suspicious LUA Addons

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:34 am

Just curious, but these addons that are out there or will be out there soon, are they like wows addons where the developers use the addons to create the raid encounters. Just to go raiding people will have to have these addons or the encounters are very hard to beat. Addons that change the UI are cool and all but why would anyone wand to have all that stuff up on the screen in the first place, it breaks immersion at least for me and the only time I need on the screen it health, stamina, and magicka and of course the compass.

Also how many of these addons are going to have an advantage for players over other players in AvA. I am guessing that some people will try this and exploit the game to there advantage in some way.

Thanks for the clarification that it was from a Paul Sage post. The guy I know if PTS made it seem like in the patch notes.

Allowing these user created UI addons is just pure laziness on the devs part. Again, a ui editor a la SWTOR and RIFT would have been fine, everyone has the same UI options, and no one has an advantage. This launch is going to be a nightmare as far as im concerned with these UI addons.

I believe its up to everyone...

User: To find such addons and report them. Also to not use them afterwards.
Dev (ZOS): Take action on said addons and alter the API or break functions on their side.
Dev (Addon): To not make such addons and to report possible misusage of API functions to Dev (ZOS).

Everyone has to do their part to make/maintain/upload/download Addons for ESO and to allow ESO to be a great game.

It's up to you as a player to decide what addons you want to use or not use. If you feel it is a determent to your system or game play then don't use it. I'm sure the API will limit some more information before launch, but to arbitrarily stop all add ons because you don't want them or refuse to use them is petty. It amazes me that people think their $15.00 a month affords them special treatment over anyone else playing and paying $15.00 a month. That is naive.

There will be bad ones, there will be good ones, there will be useless ones and helpful ones. But they will exist come launch and threads like these do nothing to change that.
