Since there's an Elder Scrolls Risk thread, I figured this was an appropriate place to gauge interest in an Elder Scrolls pinball game.
Being both a TES fan and pinball enthusiast, the idea came to me to merge the two. Yes, totally serious. This isn't just some nonsensical idea that came from throwing darts at a wall; the Elder Scrolls series has plenty of distinct and interesting elements that I think would translate very well into a fun pinball experience. I know the idea sounds silly and strange, but pinball is still alive - new tables are still being made every year, and old classics have found a new home on consoles and smartphones through popular virtual pinball software.
That said, I'd like to take a crack at designing one or more TES Pinball tables, but would like to hear input from the Elder Scrolls community: Are there any pinball enthusiasts among you who would like to collaborate on table design, and what themes and elements from the series would you like to see make the transition? With enough interest, I will gladly draft a playfield and build a virtual whitewood. My goal would be to create a fully-working pinball game using Future Pinball (a free pinball simulator for PC with realistic physics and graphics) and release it to the community as a free fan work. For those worried this is some dead-end project, rest assured I have more than enough experience to build the table, program all of the game logic, model and texture 3D playfield toys, and produce graphics and audio to complete the package. Who knows? Perhaps if it is received well enough, Bethesda might commission a real table for the office.
Thanks to everyone in advance for the feedback. I will follow up shortly with a list of ideas I have already brewed which will hopefully drum up some excitement.
