Morrowind stuttering in combat issue and fix

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 3:17 pm

ok a year ago i posted that my morrowind would stutter very badly when entering combat.

well it turns out that when i changed some codecs around to set up a home media server that it changed the some things for morrowind. so after a very long process i found this site

http://nightmare2013.brashendeavors.net/

which had the codec reset utility. which solved the problem very fast.

so for anybody that has messed with a home media server and changed a few things so that a 360 will output bluray just a heads up that, the ultility on the site i posted actually takes care of the codec changing that involves.

glad to have this fixed i can finally go back to morrowind :tes:

You're running XP, right? To my knowledge, that shouldn't work with any of the newer OS's.

yes i am running xp. and the fix works for service pack 2 but still managed for sp3. not sure if the systems are so different between xp and newer models that codecs wouldn't still be a source of problems with morrowind though.im sure the soultion would require a different .bat file but does help to number the issue down if it does happen on newer os.

Yep, it would need a different batch file for sure. It makes changes to registry locations that are different in Vista, Win 7 and Win 8. It's beyond my capabilities though, and nightmare hasn't been around in a few years.

Good job finding it though. :)
