Where are you from and what is your background? Part Deux

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 1:34 pm

Continuing on from this recently locked post: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1493480-where-are-you-from-and-what-is-your-background/

The post that started it. Leave where you are from and your background, if you would!

"So my brother and I were talking about The Elder Scrolls the other day. He commented that he is always surprised to find out who played TES games. He said that the series seems to not stick to the 'geek culturel' stereotypes with a wide variety of pepole spending a lot of time in Tamriel.

So I'm just curious if that is true. Where are you from and what is your background?

I'm a writer that currently lives in Western New York. (I have to say that because when I say New York, most people think "New York City.") However, I grew up in Arizona and spent the majority of my life there. One interesting thing about the place I live now is that I can visit Mark Twain's gravesite whenever I want. Truth - I have pictures to prove it. It's about four blocks away from my house. I'm an avid reader. I read and write mostly scifi and fantasy.

My brother grew up in Arizona and lives in Western New York as well. He is married and has a family of four. He tends to be a bit more blue collar than I, spending time fixing machines and driving big rigs. I wouldn't call him a gamer but he does get svcked in to TES series. He actually mentioned that TESO needed to be a bit more like the single player games after watching the beta last weekend.

What about you? I'm curious to see what kind of people are going to be playing TESO. "

I'm 23 years old and I live in Canada, I work small jobs here and there and I'm planning to go back to school. I live alone with my dog and I'm a fan of Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, which my father got for free when he bought a graphics card for his PC.

My first language is french and I learned english mostly from video games (Morrowind was a big contribution).

Do I fit the "geek" cultured stereotypes? Maybe, I don't really care... I love stargate, starwars and battlestar galactica, but I don't have big glasses

I wish fun to everyone and can't wait to see you in game.

I used to live at The Paramount, it was a lot of money and pretty neat. Back when I used to go out a lot. 'Networking' was really just drinking and eating food I'd never heard of before~

Moved to San Diego recently though to work on some PS4 stuff, it's much cheaper down here :D

Retired US Soldier, with too much time on his hands. Haven't been able to find employment in more than a year - thus the too much time piece.

So started volunteering at a center for teaching children a couple of times per week, and may end up tutoring some high school kids.

I seemed to have missed the first thread before it got closed.

I'm 24 and from Pennsylvania(my town is about the size of a post office), will be married next year in July, no babies yet. Was going to go to college last year for Psychology but due to family illnesses I had to stay put but someday I really want to go. At the moment my job is taking care of my grandmother, she wanted to get an at home caretaker but when we saw their rates she realized she couldn't afford one so I volunteered. I've been gaming since I could hold the Atari controller my father let me play, I think Dig Dug and Centipede sold me on gaming. First MMO wasn't until right after graduating High School and it was Tales of Pirates by IGG. I got into the TES series when a friend of mine let me borrow Skyrim on 360 and after playing the game to death, I got it for PC off Steam. Being from PA I get asked in almost every MMO "Are you Amish? or a Farmer?" No I'm not Amish but I live down the road from my Uncle's dairy farm and when I was growing up I would help him all the time and developed an affinity for all the farm animals. I have varying hobbies which include, gaming, reading, writing, fishing, hunting with my father, doodling(I'm not that great at artsy stuff but I enjoy drawing randomly), studying psychology and behaviors and spending time with my pets. When ESO launches I'll probably be playing by myself since most of my friends aren't interested in MMOs or the TES series, soon-to-be hubby won't be playing cause he's more into his console games and he'll be busy with Titan Fall.

I really like that most players who posted in these threads are mature individuals from all walks of life. I hope to see all of you in game with the exception of Cyrodiil =)

I was able to go to Otakon once back in 2007 and haven't had the funds to go back since but it's quite an experience. I can only imagine what Comic-con would be like but I'm sure it's much bigger and a lot more fans. Here's to going someday!
