Trouble with Mod Organizer

Post » Tue Mar 11, 2014 8:24 am

Hello.

I am having an issue with Mod Organizer in which the Data files for mods are not appearing in the Skyrim Data folder after the installation.

Is there a setting somewhere to change the file path?

That's the whole point of Mod Organizer, you really need to read the description.

With mod organizer it's all done virtually. Your data folder should remain entirely unchanged.

Alright, I read the description and I must admit I feel a bit stupid for having skimmed over the part about the virtual directory.

I shall return later.

please do yourself a favor, there's a couple REALLY good videos on youtube regarding MO, also go through the tutorial. But the short, and imcomplete version is, make sure you set up profiles, the default profile is the mods you want to use for EVERY profile.A profile is basically a mod setup you want to use, with MO you can use different mod setups for different game saves.

Suppose you want to play one character using frostfall and Hunting in Skyrim, and another character using a magic overhaul and NOT use frostfall. You CAN! Just a matter of selecting the proper mod profile for the save file. You select the profile of mods you want to use, then you load skyrim through MO, then the game loads, and you select the savegame you want to play. It's that easy !

Also, if you forget which profile goes with which save, you can click on the SAVE tab where it says Plugins-Archives-Data-SAVES-downloads, then it will show you a screenshot of where you are in the game, along with some basic text telling you save #, character name, character lvl, save date, AND missing esp's according to the profile you currently have selected.

But one of the NICEST features of MO, it never actually touches your actual Skyrim game files, whereas other managers copy & replace actual game data, as you install/uninstall mods. Meaning, if you try out mods a lot or install/reinstall mods often using the manager, you'll never have to reinstall your Skyrim, due to something messing up in a mod install/uninstall. Skyrim remains in its virgin state, as if you just installed it.
