Voices of Character Creation...

Post » Tue Mar 11, 2014 9:12 am

Did you guys notice that the soundboard voices just seems... repeated? they are too similar to each one in some races, and even race to race.

They should made it like in Neverinter Nights game, where the voice for ex: The Voice 01 was very diff from the Voice 02, i mean not only the "Timbre" (im sorry if that word doesnt exist in English, something like Texture), but the acting of the voice. Like an Agressive Yeller or a cautious whisperer.

Skyrim was rubbish with voices, but Oblivion didn't seem to be as bad. It may well be because more time has passed since I've played it but I don't remember it being that bad.

It was very hard to hear the differences in the voice, you're right. It's one of my few pet peeves. The most annoying thing about it, is that it picks a noise at random; so while you hear one voice laugh, the next will scream, then the next on after that will grunt.

I wish the would just stick to one example, such as a laugh.

I think he's talking about player voices, which Skyrim didn't have.

I liked the voice options (numerous and quite different from each others) that I had in Neverwinter Nights, and it's quite an old game now,

But yea, really, I'm not impressed with ESO's choice of voices, but it'd not s msjot issue for me, especially since our character doesn't talk at all.

I read that as NPC voices, apologies. I should have read that better before replying.

I'll be honest, I didn't hear my player make a sound while playing. I'm just glad the don't have female tennis player grunts.

Indeed, if they could make the soundboard go file to file in a ordered sequence, we could notice the differences better.

Yeah, its not a gamebreaker, but i wish i could have more options to select a Voice that would suit my Silent Warrior than an Yelling Grunt hehe, but oh well... the hell with it, lets just play. :D

Lol I assumed the function was broken - changing the voice options at character creation did nothing and my character never said much ingame.

In FF14 ARR, they gave you the option to pick between laugh, grunt, yell, etc., for each voice. Made things much smoother.

Yep, elder scrolls, your character can be who you want, but they all share something: they're timid and not talkative.

I wish they would have a separate tab for voice, pick the voice, then select the output...

Voice X Dropdown

  • Laugh
  • Cry
  • Chuckle
  • Grunt
  • Scream 1
  • Scream 2
  • Battle Cry

That way if you wanted to hear Laugh specifically, you would change the voice in the drop down, then click on "Laugh"

It should at least cycle through the soundbites instead of just picking on randomly.

Having it being picked randomly results in the soundbites often repeating themselves when you select a voice.

*click*

"Mwhahahaha!!"

Ok, now I want to hear how he sounds like in combat... *click*

"Mwhahahaha!!"

Ok, now, I REALLY want to hear what he sounds like in combat. *click*

"MWHAHAHAHA!!"

*flips table*
