I mean eventually all of Tamriel will be complete, and idk I think it would be amazing to go to some events we only heard of and never got to experience, or have experienced in past TES games.

No thanks. I don't think Bethesda will allow that. Established lore from the SP games in that period of time may conflict with what is created for ESO. Also, how would this time travel thing work? In ES there have only been a handfull of people that have traveled through time. Pelinal and KINMUNE being two examples.
Time travel certainly isn't unheard of in TES, so I support this. I'd love to see some of the Elder Scrolls history first hand; the Dragon War, the rising of Talos and the Imperial Empire. Perhaps even events post Skyrim.
That is up to the developers, idk maybe we can go to the battle of the Dwemer vs Dunmer, when the Dwemer disappeared... or the sneak attack of the falmer on the nords that got reinforcments back at atmora.
Ahhh my Nostalgia, Yes seeing Talos attack Summerset with the Brass tower, The dragon wars seem scary though.
If there were a good story reason behind it and if it were done with taste. I thought the Time-Wound in Skyrim was fascinating. If it was something like that, I would enjoy it.
Do you really think Bethesda would allow ZOS to portray The Battle of Red Mountain ingame? That has to be THE most poignant event in all of ES. So many conflicting accounts and claims. That will never get featured in an ES game. It would spoil the mystery.
..and the main protagonist from Skyrim and Alduin were also sent through time with the use of an Elder Scroll. I think there is nothing wrong with experiencing a great battle or event, so long as you could not change the outcome. It's been done before in games; even in World of Warcraft, and say what you will about that game, but Azeroth lore is taken pretty seriously.
They wouldn't have to explain the disappearance of the Dwemer, but seeing a real dwemer would be nice....
Also Bethesda and ZOS are just divisions of Zenimax, so it is all up to the big guys upstairs.
Yes, but the problem with Elder Scrolls lore is that it is not set-in-stone. There are all sorts of conflicting accounts and events that are only vaguely described. Those are the things that give lore fans inspiration and freedom for their own interpretations. That is exactly why ZOS chose this time period. There is not much known about the period ESO is in, apart from some vague lines. If they would enter other timeperiods that have been described in the lore by Bethesda, there would have to be 1 possible outcome for it to make sense in a videogame. Therefore it's likely not gonna happen.
As far as the concept of timetraveling goes, I guess there are ways, although I doubt suddenly all people from Tamriel will become timetravelers.
They will not explain the dissapearance of the Dwemer. Any novice TES fan that knows Bethesda and it's writers could tell you that.
And I know about ZOS and Bethesda being connected. Doesn't matter. Bethesda has been working closely with ZOS to make sure it all fits nicely. This has been known for some time.
Well suddenly all people in Tamriel are the Vestige for the Prohpet to save the world from Molag'bal
I don't want them to explain the disaperance of the Dwemer, but just for us to finally see one... I mean we could also do the battle of the Left hand elves that the Redguards slaughtered.
I don't really see the issue myself, as long as the player didn't alter the out-come that is. Perhaps we could fight along side Talos? I think a lot of the fans would appreciate seeing some of the history that they've read so much about first hand.. if done correctly, of course. I also wouldn't mind seeing history that hasn't been mentioned, such as jumping forward to beyond the events of Skyrim.
The way they approach this in World of Warcraft is; you're a mere soldier that doesn't play an important role in an otherwise important event.
Oh frak, I misread you there. Sorry about that. Seeing a real Dwemer is possible in Morrowind. There are Dwemer ghosts and there is Jagrum Bagarn, the last living Dwemer. There are also statues in Morrowind, outside of Dwemer ruins. And who knows, maybe you get a little peek in ESO as well.
But I keep by my opinion that featuring big and noteworthy events from the past in ESO will spoil the mystery and legend around them. Know the feeling that you think about something so much and you think it's the most awsome thing ever, and when you finally get to see it, it's a total letdown? I'd rather not have that. And I have a very strong feeling that Bethesda and ZOS feel the same way about this subject. Especially now that Michael Kirkbride has released C0DA, which is basically another hint towards "create your own interpretation and views on lore"
It's not that much about the outcome. We all know Tiber Septim conquered Tamriel. We know that he became part of the oversoul known as Talos. We all know the Dwemer dissapeared. It is alot more about what happened exactly during those events. That is the parts that should remain a mystery to me. There are many different ways to how the apotheosis of Tiber Septim came to be, or how a certain war was won. Every race/culture has different POV's and stories about the wars they took part in. Portraying it in game would render only 1 view correct.
it's not a bad idea. but, what's wrong with what's going on now?
I'm not insinuating they retell every known event in full detail, I'm not even fully supporting the idea of time travel. I'm saying that it could be done in a lore friendly way; and I for one wouldn't mind participating in a short segment of popular Elder Scrolls history. Yes, that one small event would then be set in stone, so to speak, but I don't think it really matters. If you think about it; we've all taken part in the Oblivion crisis and the events of Skyrim and Morrowind, yet was what we did canon? Of course not.
Fair enough, as long as there is not that many details I suppose it could be done in some cases. Although exception need to be made, like The Battle of Red Mountain. That needs to remain what it is. Edit: Nvm that last part.
Well during Skyrim the Oblivion Crisis and events of Morrowind were all in the past. They sort of have to tread carefully. I wouldn't dream of letting them touch Red Mountain. Some things have to remain sacred.
What if they made the Battle of Red Mountain into the next ES game? That would be amazing!
So many of the quests already involve time travel, I say this should happen only sporadically, otherwise it becomes mundane. Then again it kinda already is...
There are infinite realms in Oblivion. ESO won't run out of new areas, I'm sure.
