Titanfall is a good example for online game launches

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 11:47 am

ESO's launch is rapidly approaching. Only twenty days until ESO early access.

There must be a teachable lesson in the successful Titanfall launch for all online game devs. It took Respawn only around two hours to fix most of the login problems.

Titanfall...

You mean that average shooter with really small teams and small maps ?! Yeah, the complexity of such a game really matches that of an MMORPG.

Yes, the game with 4 millions players logging in at once should take lessons in solving login problems from the game with 12 players.

This last beta weekend will really give us some info on how the launch will go. It is the closest build release we will see compared to the gold and hopefully all those bug fixes impact game play greatly. What we are still really testing though is the server performance. If log on queues are gone and client crashes and lag minimal it should be a decent launch. Early access people are still the guinea pigs though.

Titanfall looks interesting, but the microscopic team sizes kill it for me. 6 players on a side, max? Pass.

Yeah don't want to pile on here but I just don't see what ESO has to learn from a lobby based FPS with a max player per map of 12....

I can't can't take you seriously if you try to compare two different games to each other, especially how Titanfall is just an Xbox exclusive!

titanfall n eso r 2 completely diff games u cant compare the two. 2 hours with login issues for a fps is not very good.

Except for the fact that Xbox Live is down and nobody can sign in and play.

ESO doing well though for getting word out . Better than a lot of past mmos ,Warhammer for example.

Last beta they invited a ton of players and i am sure they were happy that we broke login and crashed servers etc. Its what betas for :)

Early access is part of a staggered release. Without a doubt early access players as the ones first in line are the guinea pigs. I wonder if ZOS will release concurrent user stats.
