Race class combos

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 3:26 pm

What race class combo do you go with each race? Which ones do you go traditional with (orc-warrior, altmer-mage) and which ones do you go against the grain (bosmer-two hander, altmer-sword and boarder)?

I for one love playing Altmer warriors but can't find my self breaking the orc mold, always roll a orc heavy armor dude.

I have an orc who uses magic, axes, and bows in light armor.

My altmer uses one-handed weapons magic and shields in light armor.

My bosmer who I'm currently playing uses a mace and a shield with a bow and some magic in clothing.

I'm toying with the idea of an Orc shaman. It isn't really unusual though.

I don't really confine any particular playstyle to any particular race. Nord mages, for example, is just as plausible for me to play as a Nord warrior. Well, except that I prefer the warrior-playstyle, but that is irrespective of race. If that makes sense.

I mainly play Nords and I'll switch it up between sword and board, mage and thief/assassin. My current thief is a Khajiit. I dont stick to what race fits traditionally. I go with what I like.

I generally played Nords, Redguards, Orcs as warriors; Bretons, Altmers as mages; Khajiits, Bosmers as Rogues; and Imperial, Argonian and Dunmer as multi-class.

I did, prior to Skyrim, role-play some different ones once in a while, like an Orc Bard, Nord Mage, etc. The way Skyrim vanillatized (new word!) the races and removed classes it really doesn't matter anymore so all those role-plays are basically dead now. Ask me how much I hate that. Now I just have to pretend my Orc is a Bard and pretend it's something unusual.

I think the only race I've ever played in a traditional role is Breton, but that's only because of how many Bretons I play and because I like magic.

I also have lots of Breton fighters, thieves and everything in between the three archetypes. Well, no, I don't play thieves that often with any race, actually.

Yeah, I just go with whatever I feel like without thinking too much about race aside from what inspired them to take their professions (especially if it's uncommon for the race).

That's pretty much what my orc is. I love the idea of an orc sorcerer. It's even in the name: sorcerer :).

I don't always make my characters have character builds that suit their race.

I've had a Bosmer Heavy Armoured Battleaxe user.
I've had an Heavy Armoured unarmed Orc Assassin.
I've had a Redguard magic user.
I've had an Argonian Dual Wielding Dragonborn.

Well in Oblivion I had an Altmer Barbarian.

In Skyrim I had a Redguard stealth thief/assassin.

I have also had a Bosmer stealth mage.

I have played other combos such as a Nord warrior/mage but those aren't too far from there playstyles.

I've been playing redguard pure mages in both Oblivion and Skyrim. I've also played Altmer barbarian type characters as well. I usually just come up with an idea then worry about the stats later

Yeah I very, very, very rarely play as a Breton. When I choose diff class for the race I abandon all bonuses. My Altmer sword and boarder never used and magic. Or I'll make a Bosmer who never uses bows. It was more noticeable in the previous game with the starting attributes being all different.

Almost all of my Nords have been mages, whereas my Altmer characters have always been warriors since MW.

It all feels right to me. I cannot explain why. Perhaps it's because Altmer look cool using swords, javelins, and axes. On the other hand, Nords look awesome when they shout and use magic. I have plenty of screenshots to back it up.
