Maybe a better way to make money than selling Imperials

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 6:33 pm

I am so annoyed by the idea of paying extra 20 bucks to play as an Imperial. I JUST HATE IT because It's like they are selling out a whole race. The feeling was growing strong when I saw the email about the last beta, in which we can play as an imperial. I don't know why but in that moment I was just so pissed off.

And someone say human in fantasies is boring. That's true, partly at least. Imperials won't make much fortune.

But you know what? If they have to sell something--yes they have to come up with some idea to make more money--they can just develop a special edition to make people willing to pay extra $20 or $30 to join Mannimaco, to assist Molag Bal invading Nirn, to become a necromancer and use dark magic. You can ride a skeleton horse and have a cute zombie as your pet.

I think this sounds cool and if they do so, there will be much more people pre-order the special edition. I am sure of it.

AND STOP SELLING IMPERIALS PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DIVINES!

Nobody cared about the imperial race not being in the game until they announced it's inclusion in the collector's edition. THEN everyone was so upset they had to pay extra for something that WASN'T IN THE GAME TO START WITH.

When beta first launched, was anyone asking, "Hey, where are the Imperials?" I didn't see anyone doing this.

When beta was running for several weeks, did anyone ask, "What happened to Imperials?" I didn't see anyone asking.

Why is it a big deal now? Because entitlement.

Occam's Razor strikes again.

There have been several other MMOs that have had paid races/classes but I don't think the Imperial race is the big cash grab for the Imperial Edition, in my opinion anyway it would be the fact that you can play any race in any alliance.

You can do that just by preordering.

Anyone think maybe they put the Imperial race in the CE so we wouldnt have thousands and thousands of imps running around when they are allied with the big baddie of the main quest? I know its easy to blame everything on the suits and greed. Doing it this way keeps it more inline with lore IMO. Same with any race any faction.

They cannot simply stop selling the Imperial race. It's too far along for that. People have paid for this exclusive content; to now start giving it away for free would cause a tidal wave of legal backlash.

Another person crying about the collectors edition. Your suggestion for an alternative seems worse, imperial race has no advantage over anyone else but your suggestion sounds like you want a whole class to be gated by the ICE.

Yep that makes sense like the way to become a Jedi in the original Star Wars Galaxies (very long process) limited the number of Jedi in a time period when the Jedi were hunted to extinction. Player Bounty Hunters got contracts to hunt the Jedi and when they killed them (usually while they were solo grinding) the Jedi lost a big chunk of experience. Then the NGE made Jedi a class that you could pick at the start of the game. Heh...

I've never understood the problem with a "cash grab".

Too many gamers expect companies to work for free.

So you think selling a race, as you ft ft
So selling a race, as you put it is worse than selling a class (necrosis) that any race can be is better? You lost any credibilityalong with your post.

So annoying to see people call a legitimate complaint "crying". Complaining? Yes, but i highly doubt the OP is in tears.

To the OP, i doubt they'll stop selling the Imperial Edition. The drones have bought them up pretty quickly as it is. And it's because of these drones why other companies can charge rediculous amounts of money for "DLCs" that take almost no effort to make. Stuff like map packs for CoD.

I pre-ordered the Standard edition just because i don't agree with this tactic. I pre-ordered 2 PS4 copies actually, which i just might be canceling if they don't give a real release date instead of just "June". Not sure why people don't understand that MMO's are not suppose to make production cost back on release sales, and that's what it seems ZOS is trying to do. MMOs are an investment by the company, the money they get from monthly subs is suppose to be what makes them back their money and then some. Not sales @ release day.

People would whine that's certainly a content paygate. You're just trading one problem for another.

I don't see the problem with this cost. I wish more companies would do it. They've worked tirelessly making these games for us, it's not so much to ask for a little back; little being the key word here. Most people will spend the same amount on a meal or night out and forget about the cost the following morning, while ESO will provide entertainment for months and years on end.

Most people are used to the cheap cost of games though and have come to expect it. I for one appreciate the work that has gone into them and will glady show this appreciation with the only thing they ask for; my money.

No one is expecting developers to work for free. What an odd thing to say.

There is nothing to complain about, this is the standard for video games, has been for a very long time. You act as if this is the first game ever to offer a collectors edition.
