Assasin Follower

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 4:37 pm

I would like to know if an assasin by nature works alone. Is it effective to have a follower? Will the follower not blow the assasin's cover? I noticed that it sneaks too everytime the assasin sneaks, but does it have the same skill level as the assasin? Thanks for your replies!

If you're the sneaky type, then you shouldn't have a follower. They will break your cover every time. They will rush in.

Thanks for your immediate reply. Isn't it a way of life that assasins sneak? As much as I hate to sneak (my characters are mostly melee warriors), I find it necessary in order not to get caught... (I almost always get caught anyway, so my chracter stopped the assasin quest for awhile)... Anyway, isn't that true? Assasins need to sneak or stealth otherwise they will have a bundle of bounties on their heads and be wanted in every town... ?

Followers only differentiate between warrior and mage. No follower is good at sneaking to the point to which they're actually efficient at it, as many seem to be under the illusion of such.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes it's nice having Cicero cut someone's throat for you.

Are you asking about assassins in real life or in the game? In real life there is evidence that, in the UK at least, assassins are not nearly as sneaky as Hollywood portrays them: http://www.livescience.com/42880-hit-men-motivations-money.html

Surprisingly, Mercer Frey was almost as good as sneaking as I was (100). When we were sneaking through a Nordic ruin (won't say for spoilers), he was able to sneak past almost all the draugr with me.

If you're running a frontal assault type assassination where stealth isn't required, I'd say a follower is doable. Also if you're roleplaying and training a newer assassin or something.

I have never used a follower for an assassin character.

It's better to work alone as even the followers who sneak will blow your cover by attacking an enemy before you do or something along those lines....if you do bring a follower then tell them to wait back before getting close to your mark.

Okay, I'll keep that in mind. I will have to make the follower wait as I ambush the target/ Thanks for your replies!

I don't mind having Serana for my sneaky characters. She almost never gets caught. In fact, the odd time she does rush it, she keeps the attention off me and allows me to sneak even better to get the kill. It has to be a follower with effecient Sneak though. Otherwise, you're better off alone.
