Where do you get jewellery?

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 4:15 am

In the last beta weekend my jewels (rings and amulet) where massively under level because the only source I could figure out for them were world drops and quest rewards. IIRC there's no crafting option for these items, so is there another source we can regularly upgrade these and select items with stats complimentary to the rest of our build?

Thanks

I experimented with enchanting last time but I don't remember coming across any recipes for this? Anyone any ideas?

As far as I know you cannot enchant jewellery or weapons, nor can you craft jewellery, however Paul Sage did say in the TESO Elite interview they are looking at ways to implement this.

So it's currently just luck of the drop - whatever you get, you have to make do with?

Seems very bizarre that as a player you've got no control over those items, those slots are pretty important right?

You can enchant weapons and armor if you find or craft the proper glyphs. There are also a wide range of jewelry enchantments available. We just need the devs to provide a source of jewelry. My blacksmith made quite a few enchanted weapons and armor pieces last beta.

i dunno- i found at least 12-15 different kinds of enchants to put on jewelry, and i found some 5-8 enchants to put on weapons,

the armor-enchants were very rare drops for me though,

This is confusing me then, I watched a couple of Twitch streams where the streamer stated you could not enchant the weapons you craft, I know from my experience in the beta I could enchant my own armour, but that's because I crafted that armour, which had no traits on originally.
So I would assume this is the same for weapons then?

From what I did last beta (no I saw or I heard but I really did so I'm 100% sure ;) ) here is what I know about jewelry and enchanting :

You cannot craft Jewelry at the moment, it was also said in the last Q&A with Paul Sage that they were looking into adding Jewelry to the craftable items.

You are given Jewelry as quest reward from time to time.

I don't know if you can get jewelry from loot on enemy bodies or chests I don't remember getting any but I may have forgotten.

You can enchant some of the rings and necklaces you are given but not all, for example the ring you may given after finishing the intro in Cold Harbor cannot be enchanted but I got an additional ring and necklace taler on that I was able to enchant.

Weapons and armor can be enchanted, the difficulty is to find runes to create enchants for them. Armors specially can only have enchants that give bonuses to max health, magika and stamina and those don't drop very easily.

You can enchant any item crafted or looted that doesn't already have an enchantment on. Traits are not enchantments and you can absolutely apply an enchantment to an item that already has a trait.

The difficulty is that when you see properties on an item it's not always easy to know if one of those comes from a trait, an enchantment or something else. That's why it's easier with items you craft yourself, you know what's on them.

Regarding enchanting here is a very very useful page that helped me understand what was going on and how I could craft the enchants I needed :

Hope this help :)

You can't craft jewelry yet.

The main source of jewelry as of now is dropped, quest reward and loot bags.

There are items that have locked enchantment which cannot be replaced. Locked enchantment have a lock symbol on the tooltips.

Oh well it's a shame I liked the items I had :/

I hope they also removed the runes related to jewelery enchantment otherwise it'll be a real pain getting the useful ones seeing as a good portion of the runes I ever got were for jewelery...
