Too many nightblades?

Post » Wed Mar 12, 2014 11:22 pm

Usually in MMOs I like playing the underdog or least represented class.

However in ESO I'm adamant on playing a Redguard nightblade, though from playing in a few beta weekends and looking at a couple of census results online, it seems like they're very much everyone's flavour of the month.

Is this an accurate trend? I don't want to play a dps class which will be in competition with the same class in groups and raids.

The fact that you're not playing a Khajit will already make you unique among Nightblades. As things stand, i'm pretty sure 90% of NBs will be Khajit.

Balance will go up and down don't choose based on what you or other people consider best now.

And it's just beacuse they're percived as the rogue/assassin class that is always over played, if you wanto play as an "underdog" but still be a nightblade just play ranged dps witha destruction staffed or go melee witha 2hander.

And you'll be in competion with any other player that chooses to focus on ranged/melee dps, dosen't matter if they're dragon knight, sorcerer, templar or nightblade.

Class isn't role defining in this game.

There's only 4 classes, so you're going to see thousands of players with your same class. However, you're going to see Heavy armor NBs, Light armor NBs, Medium armor NBs, 2-handed NBs, staff NBs, sword and shield NBs, daggers, swords, bows... the variety goes on and on.

Yep. When you own a Toyota, then every other vehicle you see on the road seems to be one.

There are over 25 skill lines to follow. Your class simply changes 3 of those.

Classes in ESO won't define you like they do in other games. In fact I challenge you to spot another Nightblade outside of combat.

Some people said Argonian was the worst race for a nightblade.

So I made a nightblade Argonian.

I kinda like being the oddjob. Next up is an orc sorcerer. Haha

Play what you want to play, and bear in mind that the game will eventually be balanced a tad better. To be honest, I don't think that being completely/very unique in this game (or any MMO) is really possible. There will literally be 1,000s of others that play as your race/class combo, irrespective of what you choose. So play what you want to play. If you don't, you'll probably ultimately come back to that combo anyway - and then you've just "wasted" a bunch of time/effort.

Arent' nightblades basically Rogues in other games? A stealth class? So then Nightblades equals Recon in a FPS. Recon = snipers. Everyone likes playing the awesome cool sniper.

So maybe you'll see 5 to 1 Nightblades to everything else the first 3-6 months. But if it turns out most Templar beats most Nightblades in PvP, then I'm guessing you'll see a spike in Templars. Just like everyone plays sniper at first until they get wrecked by everyone else

Nightblades also make fantastic healers, in my experience. Any out of the four classes can make a decent healer, destruction mage, archer or melee warrior.

I think it's a toss up between Sorcerer and Nightblade. Both are the typical dps class mage/rogue or so people assume like other MMOs. I probably see as much sorcerers as I do night blades.. and I'm probably gonna end up being one of them in the end during launch anyways. Probably >50% of sorcerers will be Altmers and >50% of nigh blades will be Khajiits. I say don't care about other people, and just play as you want to play, because like someone else mentioned there's so many skill lines and you'll probably end up using only 1 or 2 of the night blade skills on your bar anyways.

Well, that's depressing (ok not really). I don't know anything about the game and it's history. I was just looking at the characters on the creation screen thinking, hmm so many human types, so little everything else. Except for Dark elves, the other elves look mighty human like. So I'm left between, human looking Orcs and Khajiits. Then I see all this Khajiits have the best racials and everyone is going with them and it's like Blah! If only the Orcs looked a little more mutant or the elves a little more something else.

Well, I'm going to be a Khajiit Nightblade, but that's mainly because that's what I was in Skyrim and had so much fun with it. My first alt is probably going to be a Argonian Sorc. I really like the beast races.
