How much does damage scale with MagickaStamina?

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 2:37 am

Just a question I can't seem to find any answer on: how much does damage scale with max magicka/stamina? Some class skills and weapons skills of course have their damage scale, but how much?

In particular, how much would damage change between the following three states:

--A character using a class skill with no points put into magicka at any level.

--A character using a class skill with just enough points in Magicka to hit the soft cap.

--A character using a class skill with all points put into magicka.

If anyone can give even rough estimates or impressions, that would help me a lot in figuring out how I want to play my character. Thanks very much!

The way it works now, with the soft caps, almost everyone is putting all or most of their points into health. The DPS increase of going all magicka or stamina is pretty minimal.

Your character stats don't show the damage increase though, and I don't know if anyone has actually run the numbers. All I can really say is that currently, the returns are pretty pathetic, going all out in magicka. I'd only go +magicka just enough to hit soft cap, if you can't already hit soft cap without (which you should have no problem doing.).

That information helps, thank you.

So you're not really seeing a big damage increase? Like, say you had a spell that did 100 damage when you had no points in Magicka. If you hit the soft cap, you wouldn't be doing like 200, you would be doing more like 110 or 120? Is that more like what you're seeing?

Yeah, I'd say more along the lines of 110. Granted, you also get a tad bit more resource pool to draw from, so maybe you could argue 120, if you factor in sustained damage.

That's why people go so heavy into health, since it has no cap. Even after the 15 HP per point nerf, it's still like +75% extra HP, going all health.
