Changing the Character Class

Post » Thu Mar 13, 2014 8:39 pm

Of course, this come with a cost, changing the class, would cost money, and in the case you comming back to the first class choice, the skills will be reseted, needing to be leveled all again.

You know what. I'm actually going to say Yes for this one. I'm of the opinion that choice is a never a bad thing. We can reset all of our other skills, I see no harm in changing those three skill lines also; for a price.

I'm not an altoholic, so something like this would be ideal for me.

This promotes FOTM play. Basically switch you class to what is strongest at that period in time. Not a good idea at all.

Interesting. But I would have to say yes. It will have to be heavy though; like only once a mouth or something. Because if they want to go pure eso then it has to be freeform in the entire game. The only thing that seperates class are those 3 skill lines.

How is it any different from changing any other skill line? If this were any other MMO I'd agree with you. Though there are almost thirty different skill lines; class skills only account for three of those.

Not being able to re-roll a class adds to longivity of the game.. but yeah, I know some people who completely despise leveling and I guess it would be a neat offer for them. However I voted completely subjectively.

I see your point but still believe offering class changes willy nilly is nothing but bad for the game

Bad for who? The ones who doesnt want competition or have plenty of time ?

Having a Very HIGH price for changing class, like Thousands of Gold, maybe a million, and weeks or a month cooldown wouldn't hurt anyones gameplay.

I voted yes provided that its really really painful and not just money wise but perhaps you lose 20% of your total level and experience. I kind of liked how Torchlight 2 did it where you could redo your last few skill points (think it was three or there abouts) so if you screwed up you could fix it but you had to do it within a certain time frame.

Another thought would be that you could get a total rewipe but it would take 24 hours to actually take effect and you could only do one every week. That way you don't lose your experience but it also prevents everyone from spamming the God class of the week.

Edit: ninjad on the time limit idea. :P

Once this game launches I'll have so many alts that I'll welcome a fresh start every week. Nothing is more satisfactory than a whole account of max levels :)

If you answered Yes then I hope you'll be ready to pay like 15 euro for it. There's no reason why this should be free of charge.

And I answered No.

It's still bad for the game as a whole regardless if its only 3 skill lines. The ability to change class at the drop of a hat to pick up a more powerful class is not a good move.

How do you feel about people changing their weapon skill lines in favour of a more powerful weapon skill line? They can do that at the drop of a hat; and weapon skill lines are just the same as class skill lines.

This is completly different as all classes have access to weapon, armour and guild skill lines. Class lines are different and set the classes apart.

Therefore by allowing people to switch classes you are allowing fotm stacking etc.

So, you're basically saying having more choice options in the game and adding flexibility on gameplay is a bad move????

I really, really dont understand your point of view, you seem to be searching a problem where doesnt exist.

I'm not buying the whole flavour of the month thing. People will have builds that don't even use a single skill from their class trees; in some cases the optimal build or flavour of the month might not even contain class skills.. so FOTM stacking is already in place.
