I was going to bring up the matter of lips not syncing correctly with the audio, but i can tell that has already been covered in this forum. What I don't understand though is why it only rears its ugly head on the higher graphics settings like high and ultra (for me anyways). Anyways, next topic.
The thing that really bothers me and kills the Skyrim experience for me is the fact that on higher graphics settings, npcs act in peculiar ways. Let me elaborate with an example. After arriving in Riverwood with good ol' Hadvar, we all make our way inside the house for a jovial time as I get better acquainted with the family. Alvor (Hadvar's uncle) calls up his wife who is currently downstairs. She makes her way upstairs, but then stops at the top. She just stood there motionless without any care in the world of progressing the story. I went over to talk, but she just gave me the typical "how do you do" small talk all npcs give. No interaction between husband and wife. I had to restart on lower quality. The game itself wasn't lagging. I maintained at least around 50 fps with nice temperature. All npcs seemed to be very sluggish, and their reaction times were not where they should be. Sometimes they would stop walking as if they forgot where they were going, then continue after a few seconds. This is not so on medium quality and below. Why not just play on lower quality you ask? That is simple... Because this makes no sense to me, and I feel I can get away with playing on at LEAST high. High is really all I was really wanting/expecting, but the launcher put me in ultra by default. After it doing so and knowing I can't even run the game smoothly on a setting below its recommendation irks me. After trying both high and ultra, I would be a liar if I said I wasn't annoyed by what I saw. The game itself doesn't lag, but it is as if the npcs do.
