I don't know - I was raised that knowledge is it's own reward. I learned lots of neat stuff that I was interested in knowing about, from people that were knowledgeable about those things.
Heck, even if that piece of paper hasn't landed me a dream job... just having a degree has given me a pay bump in totally unrelated fields a number of times. I know first-hand there's been at least a couple of occasions where I was put in the running for a leadership role or ear-marked as employee with upward mobility just for having a degree. These are promotions I probably could have got into without one, but it's certainly fast-tracked me.
I'm not some elitist snob that thinks anyone without one is "less" than me, or that someone without a BFA won't know as much about art appreciation as I do, or can't be as skilled. But I don't regret it at all, and it's definitely been beneficial to me.
