Lovers gonna love

It seems like this game has been getting a lot of heat for one thing or another. This is the internet, that's to be expected, but I for one, have really enjoyed my time with the game, and really want to see it succeed! They have given us a gorgeous new world to explore. As an MMO, community will be vital for it's success, and I hope there are others out there like me who just take it for what it is and continue to find entertainment and enjoyment in the game!

I figure the best thing I can do for that community is to try and share what I love about the game. I am going to be streaming all beta weekend, and I will be focusing more on what I like about the game, and just interacting with the world, without all the complaining that it isn't meeting some other predetermined expectation! I would love if people would come hang out with me and have a drink or seven, and just explore the world! Come and share what you have found you like about the game, or yell at me why you think I'm wrong, or whatever! I'll be on twitch of course, the name is Nilpointfive. Hope to chat with some comrades in gaming!

i'm really diggin it. most mmo's i've played all revolve around the 'go here and kill 10 things and come back' formula. playing TESO it feels like even the minor quests were given more thought than that, to where I don't realize I'm playing an mmo the majority of the time which I really like. i have no regrets buying this game, i'm going to be playing for a long long time I think :)

Be prepared for certain people in this forum to call you a white knight.

expressing appreciation for something isn't the same as being a blind fan. refusing to see faults when they're obvious, not recognizing detrimental changes, basically standing up for someone/something no matter what is 'white knighting'. I just got out of a game with the most absurd white knight brigade i've ever seen, so it's refreshing how little of it there is here.

This version is a LOT better in a LOT of respects. They really improved things and will likely continue to do so.

Not saying there are a lot of white knights but some people on this forum will flock to these type of positive posts.

It's okay. I enjoy it.

I don't think it's super awesome, but it's fun.

This will be a great game, I can only hope for it to evolve and mature into the greatest MMO.

Sure you won't be able to please everyone and neither can they please everyone by unblancing certain aspects of the game. However I can see certain issues that affects the immersion, playability and social aspects of hte game that is quite concerning.

I have been flagging many faults with this game and how the mechanics doesn't flow well. I can only hope that the developers and game architects are aware of it too.

This game doesn't have to be a WoW to be successful or sustainable. But no developers should be arrogent enough to shun the very mechanics that made WoW such a great MMO.

It's good to see that some people are really enjoying the game, in spite of any flaws! People seem to forget this is a beta and there is a lot of room for growth, and constructive criticism is going to help that along!

I agree that it doesn't have to be wow to succeed, I spent so much time playing wow, going back to vanilla, and what really got me into the game was having that immense world to explore, set in lore that I was already familiar with. This game feels similar to me on that front, and I look forward to seeing what's to come!

Also werewolves... eff yes

Well that is your opinion, and I respect that.

Can you explain to me why you believe so?

Many people said the same thing about having unique mechanics for other MMOs and those MMOs made it to a certain point until they were either forced to close or go F2P.

I am not wanting ESO to become a WoW clone, however one can study the mechanics embraced by Blizzard to understand that similar paradigms should not be ignored.

For example, open world pvp, you can freely sneek into opposing factions cities and cause chaos. You can occupy smaller towns with your friends and kill off the NPCs.

At the very moment in ESO, you can't even tell the difference between a NPC and a player.

Those were just very crude examples, I am sure the game will evolve over time.

I am not a WoW devoted fan and I have stopped playing WoW for a long time now.

I have purchased the collectors edition, so my money is where my mouth is.

i have the best hope for this game as well, although it needs to forge its own path and stay away from the cookie cutter to be successful imo.

same reason why POE is what D3 should have been.

So many games out there that didn't follow good mechanics, e.g: Guild Wars 2, Warhammer, Aeon, Rift, SWG, TOR, AOC

I have played all these games and more, I understand they all had their uniqueness.

But all lacked immersion and content to a certain level.

hardcoe MMO players will burn through content within a week or two.

Then it is up to end game to support them, raids, dungeons, item hording, virtual trophies and points etc.

Then after that, it is the immersion that will keep it together, guilds, ganking, doing new crap like kiting a dragon to a city.

As for a pretty good standard player, it will take me about 2-3 months to reach that point where I will either get bored of this game and leave it never to return or stick around and enjoy the community.

One thing all those games I mentioned had in common, they all lost most of the suscribers within the first 6 months. Except for Guild Wars 2, it never had suscribers, yet so many people deleted that game lol.

Blizzard makes mistakes too, they ruined a certain part of D3 when they opened up the Auction House. A successful mechnism in WoW virtually killed off the immersion of D3. They have learned their lesson now, they will be removing the Auction House from D3 in a few days time.

POE, is still attempting to balance their mechanics, you can see this with the drastic class skill changes that is going on. It is a fine line, and as I play both games, I hope they do balance it will to make the game more immersive.

Here's another one... I am soooo looking forward to ESO, that I deleted almost every game from my hd, since I know, I won't play them for a long time, if ever again... Next game I look forward to is the Witcher 3, so nothing between me and ESO till 2015, hrhr...

Liking this game so far and waiting for it to go live . One thing I like is the Mega server , once the population drops a few months after release , people won't be raging on the forums for a server merge .

I'm also loving it. As a PvE player I've decided to stop leveling/exploring in PvE to avoid ruining my launch experience, and am focused on getting to know PvP. Am getting my [censored] handed to me for the most part, but have also surprised myself on occasion. The key was ranged weapons (i.e. bow!). Also glad there seem to be very few gankers around. Had great fun watching (while hidden) to enemy gankers surprise small groups of 1-2 players at a travel choke point yesterday, only to be STOMPED into the ground by 2 + 15 people (a tad later) coming through the same choke point. Priceless stuff!!!

well theres not much more to say since you are such a blizzard fan, other than the whole point of my initiating this dialogue was to let you know that i'm not.

and almost every post in every thread by you is either comparing eso or other games to blizzard games, or standalone mocking eso

Ohhh please, I am not a blizzard fan, I haven't touch WoW since WOTLK.

I am not comparing if you have read my post carefully. I was rather, pointing to the importance of game mechanics.

Some will work, and some won't, the worst ones are the ones that works against existing mechanics.

E.g: Stealing in ESO. They obviously didn't include this, because it will be bad for the social aspects and game playability.

Are there solutions to this, probablly there is. But if people don't discuss it, it won't get anywhere.

If you have a problem with what I am saying, then please feel welcome to add your two cents. But please don't go flaming and tagging me as a WoW devoted fan.

I think the major aspects of the game feel dated, which I think is what a lot of people complain about and might hurt the game down the road.

Personally, it's what I've been missing in newer MMOs, where its all about instant gratification, grinding efficiency, power leveling and competitive macro'ed pvp, all served on a silver platter.

I do hope it's successful and they can maintain a game that's mainly about fun and adventuring, and not about the size of your stats.
