The Range on attacks....

So after playing the beta for around 3-4 hours last night i guess i got a good sense of how most of things worked for the 3 classes i had made. Still much more to be played obviously and will definitely try some more out today. From all the hate this game is recieving i actually like it and its pretty good seeing how most mmos that have lasted and become great were a actual mess in beta/release and believe it or not this one is way further ahead then most while offering much much more.

Although one thing bugs me being a melee type person in most games....the range at which you can actually hit someone in melee. PLEASE tell me this is just one of the bugs in beta because as i was testing it out pretty much all melee attacks can hit their opponent from a good 10 ft away....it really will make pvp not worth it in the end if this is how combat will be. I dont know if its there to combat ranged classes or what but i feel if that was the case you should have added a deflect type move where if you block right at the moment a spell/arrow hits you have a chance at deflecting it. That would combat any range > melee imbalance and would have no need for this sniper reach that melee has.

See i can deal with clunky animations and all that because those to me seem like small beta things but attacking from 10 ft away in melee shouldnt go live...one of the big attractions to me and probably some others is action combat for pvp. It was bad enough finding out that spells just kinda heat seek towards players so you cant really make any ranged miss at all but having that 10ft away mess will make it so you cant really dodge or do anything "skilled" to out play your melee oppenent either other than spamming moves. If games like tera and Dragons nest can be clost to spot on with attacks fired/swung and have worked for them somewhat well then i dont see why you guys would need heat seeking spells or sniping melee distance. To be able to miss hits rewards skill when hits land and just overall good play in both pve and pvp. It will always make combat feel 10x more engaging..wether or not you mess with the heat seeking spells please make it so melee cannot hit from a distance that isnt even close to touching the opponent. It just really makes combat seem that much more clunky and out of your control...which is the 2 biggest fears most people have with action combat in any game.

depends on what wepons your using , i dual weilded for the first time last night and had the feeling of having to be realy close , 2 handed wepons should and do have more range.

I probably shouldnt have said "sniping distance" as that might throw people off but this was all from the one handed sword. I noticed if you aim at the chest it hits but if you aim at the legs from a far it wont. You can really see the broken distance if you backpeddle + spam swings, ive noticed when things are in motion it kicks in like crazy which hopefully means its just a hitbox beta bug with animations/running. You can still see it standing still without running backwards pretty easy though the best place to test is in the tutorial on the ranged mobs so they will stand in one place while you can see the absurd distance from how far back you can keep going..I wish i could screenshot to show the distance from the dead body of the mob im killing and where i was standing the whole time...it really is a good 10ft. Now i could completely understand longer weapons but this was just all with one handed sword.
