I personally don't mind the city being destroyed. What annoys me is that there are no ruins or any remnants of this "great" city that we can explore.

makes sense indeed. i mean the city itself felt ridiculsly small to other cities in oblivion. plus,from the outside,it seemed waaaaaaay bigger. which could mean they had something in mind but didn't do it.
