Ok i was testing the nightblade and it got me curious, i did several test.
Shadowcloak doesnt give you backstab back, either crouched or not.
I cant find the information though, what is backstab damage % ? Is it the same as a crit? higher?

i guess everyone is like me and wondering what is basic crit damage and what is backstab damage
Thats a good question. The only thing i could add is if you crouch, use cloak and backstab then follow up with a stun. You can repeat the process and get another backstab for what appears to be the same damage. It was kinda tricky to pull off though.
For backstab to work, you need to be stealthed and undetected. Invisible is not stealthed. Its a separate condition (you can be both stealthed and invisible, or only stealthed, or only invisible).
If you are only invisible(you are not stealthed, or the monster already saw you before you went invisible) then backstab won't happen. It still does cause the veiled strike to apply it's stun however. You just won't get the big damage(autocrit) you get when attacking an unaware monster.
Invisibility is not enough to cause a backstab, but it can help you set one up. If you want to backstab a monster but need to approach from the front, you can use invisibility while sneaking(and still undetected), pass in front of the monster undetected(it would see through your stealth if you didnt use the invisibility), get into a better position and then sneak attack it.
thanks alot of the info stax! ill use that strategy.
So for the damage though, you think backstab is an auto crit?
