Magnus' role in the instability of Mundus

This little snippet from the Aedra Aloof thread got me thinking - why did the departure of Magnus stabilise Mundus? Surely his role as architect at the Convention means that his withdrawal should destabilise Mundus?

Unless, of course, Lorkhan planned for his withdrawal. That's the get-out clause here, that Lorkhan wanted the pull-out in order to bring about a world without magic to make the achievement of Amaranth/CHIM easier, but I think that's granting Lorkhan too much foreknowledge. So is it the case that Magnus' withdrawal bent Mundus out of shape even beyond Lorkhan's designs?

Magic is Anuic. It represents Everything, Potential, and Possibility. But at some point potential has to become action, and possibility must be acted upon. As long as a place has too much magic, it is impossible for any concrete action to take place because all there is is raw possibility.
