Fallout 2009: Nothing Personal LARP in Russia

Post » Thu May 06, 2010 9:43 am

Between June 19 and 21, in a deserted Soviet military base near Leningrad, a LARP (live-action roleplay) game Fallout 2009: Ничто человеческое (Fallout 2009: Nothing Personal) based on the Fallout series took place. It was organized by the "Albion" group and ca. 300 fans took part in it, after months of preparations.

Pretty silly to me, but credit to them for their organization

As pointless as LARPing is, I applaud at the amount of effort they've put. Usually LARPers are some kids with plastic swords and blankets as capes.

It looks like a lot of fun to me.

Might be something my state has left over from it's former owner as lots of us like to LARP. Just another hobby and it requires much organization. Fun weekend thing to do.

There's an article about it over on http://englishrussia.com/?p=3178. Is it just me, or does the wooded area, gas masks, etc, give this a distinct STALKER-meets-Fallout vibe? Anyway, quite a dedicated group of fans.

i larp, and belive me i thought it was stupid, but when your actually playing you dont even think about it, its alot of fun, they rent large campgrounds and when you get 50 people in full costume and weapons, all fighting, you forget its a game

I'd certainly hope the base was deserted.

It does seem like a lot of fun, actually. Good on 'em.

It kinda reminds me of Role Models. I'd like to Fallout 2009, just for kicks.
