Closed forums: Why?

Post » Tue Mar 18, 2014 6:38 am

Can someone tell me why they close the forums while the betas are not in session?

Wouldn't it make more sense to let us play the beta, THEN talk about issues in the forums?

They are close for you as you are no longer on beta, they are still open for those on the PTS.

Because they take feedback during the beta. After is not important because you are no longer playing. Betas are for testing, so you are expected to participate in discussions during testing.

You will receive a survey shortly for your post-beta feedback, assuming you have anything to add to the /feedback you provided in-game (you did take advantage of that, right?).

lmao Beta forums are for Beta players...as the NDA is lifted you can discuss anything in these forums as well. Do not see the issue or confusion here.

I would have thought it's obvious. They didn't have any forums for general discussion / feedback, and deleted most threads on the Ask Questions forum (which a lot of people tried to use as a general discussion forum) that were of a discussion or feedback nature.

They don't want to have to police forums, period. Let's face it, general discussion forums for games require a lot of policing. We (gamers) can be quite unpleasant at times. We believe our ideas have merit, and deserve to be read by the devs themselves, whenever we post them. We get whiny and irrational when someone kills us in PvP, or when someone who's been killed by someone of the class we play posts their suggestions to nerf the abilities we love. We have absolutely NO patience when something in the game isn't working right, and demand it be fixed yesterday. We have absolutely no tolerance for anyone who says anything at all bad about the game we love, and we have absolutely no tolerance for "fans", though we use a different term, which is actually censored on many forums (because of the arguments it causes).

I'd say I don't blame them, except they are going to have to open them up in two weeks, anyway. Really, how much money can they save in two weeks of not having to police forums?

I did call it, though.

I know this. But that doesn't answer anything.

Feedback is not important between betas?

I was a beta player. I don't forget what happened during the beta as soon as it ends. So, what the hell are you talking about? I'm still capable of giving valid feedback even tho the beta test is over. The issue is, you're not a dev, so what good does telling you about an error or complaint do? None.

You laugh at yourself often?

If they value our opinions during beta, why not after? I post about subjects during beta, now I'm unable to continue discussion. It actually doesn't make sense.

(And yes, especially since the game is so close).

ZOS does read this (temp beta forum) and many other gaming forums around the net. We still can gave feedback about the ESO and the beta. Almost every day, I see a ZOS person looking around the forums for feedback and their gave that feedback to the Devs who are making the game and many of them personally look at the forums as well. I bet many of the "guess" users are ZOS looking at the forums, but they are not allow to post anything to us.

The problem is there's nowhere on the beta forum to post feedback, anyways.

The larger question is why forums on the official site are closed two weeks prior to release. The official site should serve as the central hub for online discussion about the game. Instead, other sites like this one are filling that role, which possibly will foster habits in some people that keep them away from the official site once the game is live. Then again, maybe ZOS will not have forums after the production launch and they are ceding that function to other sites.

There was but they took it away when they stopped caring what the stress testing weekends had to say, honestly though why do we need a beta forum, the exact copies of troll threads and 900 polls were made over there, might as well keep all the craziness and stupid topics in one forum i say.

If only you were going to get a survey later today or tomorrow asking for the feedback you didn't provide in-game...

The forums were not there for developer feedback. They were there for players to ask for help and discuss the game.

Feedback issued in such a way is one sided. You don't get criticism from your peers.

My understanding is still that the official ESO forums will be opening soon. They'll put up an announcement I'm sure once they're ready to say something. As far as the beta forums go, I have no idea what they're doing or why. (Wasn't in the beta, anything I hear about it is second- or third-hand from this forum.)

I don't understand what you mean.

The developers aren't getting feedback from their peers when they ask for player feedback, and you, as a player, don't need to know what other people are saying. If you feel a certain way about the game, put it in your feedback.

The message in the Beta Forums say they are closed for now but will be opening again on Early Access.

At least that what I read when I tried to logon
