Few questions About ESO

Okay im curious, and a bit confused on a couple things.

1. Soft Lock system

Am not sure how this works at all. Like I have played the Beta and I loved the gameplay and such in it. felt like there was skill needing to be involved

but then I heard about the soft lock system. What exactly is this?

And secondly will there be a no-lock system in the future for this game?

2. Cross-Faction Communication

Will players of different factions be able to talk to eachother as long as it isnt pvp siege battles?

Or is it like how WoW does things with its factions not being able to talk to eachother?

Other than that? I understand pretty much everything else.

"soft lock" refers to the red hue that you see around mobs (creatures) that dictate if you hit or not- as long as you see "red", your attack will hit.

A HARD LOCK system would be like Elder Scrolls- where there's no indicator and you have to AIM AT the mob as opposed to "near" the mob if you are off by even a little bit, your attack misses.

The reason you can't have a hard lock system in an MMO is because you have thousands of players that are talking to a server located elsewhere- and the game has to compensate for latency.

in a single player game, there's no latency- everything is client side (on your hard drive / xbox / ps)- this isn't the case when you have different latencies all trying to do the same thing- there has to be some "lee way".

Alright that answers my soft-lock system. Now what about cross-faction communication? I have heard nothing about that yet

I'm not sure about zonechat, but you can definitely do this in guilds.

Yep and while the use of our usernames has been seen as controversial by some (as a side note, I emailed Zenimazx last week asking if I could change mine, and they did so with the minimum of fuss), it's actually could be useful in PvP to check another Guild member is not playing for one of the other alliances and monitoring what we are doing.

This is backwards. A hard lock is like in WoW, where you can tab-cycle through targets regardless of their location or which way you're facing, and they'll be hit.

A soft lock is where you can hit tab and you'll see a rectangle around the target and your attacks will hit it, but you have to be aimed at the target to acquire it, and if you rotate too far or if there's something in between, you'll lose it.

Well. they included tab as an key for lock an aimed target. but you still need to aim at that target later. It only shows an white box arround your target to making it easyer.
