How do I add a Parent Master

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 10:26 am

Hi,

I created an esp file and I then added a barrel and then saved the esp. Then reopened it with different esps that contain different armors. Added the armors to the barrel and then saved the esp but when I reopen it the barrel is empty as the esp does not contain any parent master files that I used. How come it does not automatically add parent master files automatically like it did in TES4 Creation Set.

How can I tell it to add specific files to master list?

An .esp can't be a master file to another .esp; you'll need to first convert the barrel.esp into a Master File. I use TESVEdit for that, personally:

1) Load Mod

2) Load .esp

3) Select 'File Header'

4) select 'Record Flags'

5) Select 'Edit'

6) Check 'ESM'

7) Save

8) Change file extension to .esm

I *think* there's an easier way to do it, with other programs, but I do not know for certain, and this way works perfectly for me.

I am unable to make an esm an active file. Do you mean I have to open all the other esp files and convert them to esm and then open the barrel.esp file? That svcks lemons. It seems painfully long winded that I am unable to associate an esp with another esp.

Well there's no point in me making the changes then. It seems it would be easier to just merge the esps and then create a barrel within the new merged esp and delete all the old esps.

Thanks for the reply.
