I'm going sword. Less effort to kill. And if I am fighting an armored person, I don't think a wooden stick will do much to them either. With a sword, if I knock them over, I can more easily stab a weakpoint, or even aim for the slit of a helmet. If it's a face open helmet, then even better. Unless it's a metal blunt weapon, it's not gonna be of much use, rings or no.
