So as the topic title suggests, opening notes - usually the ones that offer quests - is causing my Skyrim to CTD. I've googled and looked everywhere for a fix or at least someone else who has encountered this error, but for some reason no one seems to. The only mod I have that could possible be interfering (Note From A Friend, Treasure Hunter's Note, Corpse Note, or Dark Brotherhood notes that I pull from assasins, and many more undiscovered ones) would MAYBE be the Book Covers mod, but I doubt it. All I have to do is open the wrong note and WAM, instant crash. At first I was just doing trial-and-error and not opening the notes thereafter, but it's getting to the point that I'm losing out on quests. Hell, I shouldn't have a mini-heart-attack everytime I pick up a piece of paper ingame.

Does anyone have any ideas? And yes, Skyrim is up to date with all the official and unofficial patches/DLC patches.

It's likely a mod.

Does this happen on earlier saves or a new game? Have you run BOSS?

If so, you'll need to disable all your mods and see if the issue goes away. Do not overwrite any aves while you're doing this. Dont load autosaves either.

If you can narrow it down, then you need to either try reinstalling the mod or go back to the mod author page and see if you can get any info about it.

You say the only mod you have is: Book Covers.

Have you disabled that mod and see what happens ???

The only mod I have that could be affecting notes, at any rate. I wasn't very specific, which is my fault I suppose, but I was hoping it was a given that I've twiddled with Book Covers and that wasn't causing the issue. It's happened on every save I've got that has a note, and every consecutive note I get that is usually looted. Although a courier did hand me the "Note from a Friend" about shouting in public. I clicked it and it kicked me out of the game pronto.

I guess what I was hoping for was someone who would say, "OH, hey, yeah, I had that problem last year, I downloaded [this fix] and it worked afterward, good luck!" But life is never that forgiving I suppose, haha. I'll start hunting my mod list for the next several hours, I suppose x_x

Nothing can be done without you posting your mod load order, preferably from BOSS.
