pve melee sorcerer

Post » Fri Mar 21, 2014 12:45 am

ok so only got to play the beta a bit.

So for those who made a melee sorcerer (want to use a two handed sword or alternatively dual wield) how was the experience with it?

(also tried out a dragon knight two handed sword user, seemed fun as well - only got to about level 13&11 with the sorc/dk)

  • Would you focus on the summoning line for the pet and that armor toggle spell to help in fights?

  • Before you have points to start specing into armor would you mostly use heavy armor to survive better? (other than some light and medium just to level it up o fcourse)

Hoping for some pointers/tips to help nerf my noobness (an impossible task I am sure!).

Always sort of like the idea of a sword using warrior mage type.

Thanks in advance!!! (and have lost all interest in playing other games waiting in anticipation for this one, lol)

A melee sorcerer is not a good idea.

Melee sorceror works very well.

Critical Surge. Dual Wield/1H+Shield. Stack crit rate.

The newly nerfed Khajiit works VERY well for this.

It's great fun to be a heavy armoured melee sorcerer. I made an Imperial Sorcerer with heavy armour and a dagger and shield, because those were the green items that dropped for me as I played. I didn't put any points in Summoning, I put points in Dark and Elemental magic. It's nice to be able to wear any armour and use any items. The damage from magic abilities is quite high, but for a change you can go in melee, block, and experience the fun melee combat mechanics.

The Bound Armor looks great, too, from what I saw. Not so sure about the pets but you'd have to at least dabble with them to unlock Bound Armor later. Lightning Form, while short duration, was also welcome in melee combat. Two Hand Attacks feel way to slow for me, but Dual Wield looks like it would rock with a sorcerer melee build.

Yeah, if you want to build that way, Light Armor + Bound Aegis (or Bound Armaments) gives you unbelievable defense while still providing Light Armor passive magicka benefits. Throw on Lightning Form, and you blow past armor and spell resist softcaps and start tickling the hard caps.

Melee Sorc is very sixy.

Alternatively, medium armor with Bow is damn potent on a Sorc.

Tried a dual wield, lightning line sorc in 5 medium 2 light armor and it was wreaking face. It has survability with lightning form (OC armor and resists), good single target and lots of aoe in both those lines.

i'm planning a melee sorc build, bow and 1h and shield. can't decide between orc, altmeri, or khajit though. outrunning horses with boundless storm is too much fun. the sorc class has such versatility within one class, i love it. makes me what a 2nd morph on all the abilities would do, i would probably play sorc exclusively.

Been playing Sword and Board Sorcerer mainly for tanking and loving it! Lack of control of pets was annoying to me so i dropped the pet and using Lightning Splash morphed for more damage and Lightning form for longer duration , Mages Fury morphed for magic return, Daedric curse morphed for less time and of course as tank using Puncture morphed for reduced spell resistance.

If i am tanking a dungeon will be adding Defensive posture from sword and board for next spell reflected that was an awesome skill!

In saying this the pet could be good purely for that damage shield and healing it offers, but i was enjoying being the master of my own survival rather than using a slot for a pet that might or might not do the right thing!

Melee sorc is something that I looked into. A couple of skills that I would recommend would be Bolt Escape morphed into Ball Lightning (teleport forward, stuns nearby enemies for 2 seconds, absorbs spell projectiles for 6.5 seconds!) and evasion from the medium armor line. I was going to use Sword and Board on it too.

I've seen mostly people going with DW/SnB builds for melee sorc.

How well would DW/Bow work with it?

It's OP and something will likely get nerfed.
