I think the Arena in this game should be like Oblivion Coliseum!
I think the Arena in this game should be like Oblivion Coliseum!
It's not only that. I have been around a while, and I don't remember much at all of ESO promising any of things. I do remember early on that they were considering them, but decided not to go that route.
I have seen many, many posts (not necessarily people) that have been asking for them, but just because something is requested repeatedly doesn't mean that the devs are obligated in any way to do it. They have an overall vision for their game, and if they cannot take an idea and make it work within that vision, then they don't add it. If you don't like their vision for the game, then that's fine and don't buy it.
How do you know that ? How do you know it's the exact same person?
Even in WoW this gets assumed way too much. One group wants harder dungeons, One group wants easier dungeons. If Blizzard goes one way, then the other crowd complains. If Blizzard does the other way, than the other crowd complains. Then people try to point out that "the same people who wanted harder\easier are now crying for nerfs\buffs" Oddly those people refuse to accept that it's two different pockets of people.
I'm in the group that would like ESO to be *a little* more WoW like. I really hate hitting E to talk to a NPC and then ALT to exit, I just want to right click, get my quest then move on. I'd like to have a mini map, some default damage numbers showing. I prefer the bank not be tied to the account, but instead to each Character.
But, I accept that this is ESO and not WoW and ZOS is making their own game with their own style of interface, so I'm not going to cry about it. It's possible that I may loose interest in the game because it's not WoW enough Or I might get use to the way the game is and stay. I played RIFT and Guild Wars 2 for a bit and then quit. Technically I never left WoW, so I didn't go back to WoW. It wasn't that RIFT or GW2 was too WoW like or not enough like WoW. I just didn't like either game that much.
The thing about WOW is that not even WOW is like WOW! It is a shell of it's former self.
Now, I have to admit that I got board with swtor very quickly because it was too much like wow, can't say I moaned about it though. I am not hoping ESO will be like wow however. I think you are confusing people. The only real people I have seen moaning about games not being like WOW are in free to play games, the reason is because they want a game like WOW but don't want to pay for it. That won't be a problem here. Although I'm sure during beta there maybe was.
WOW was an illusion, I played it for years but it was never as good as people saw it. Although still a great game in it's day. From what I have seen in ESO it is already better. The only thing I would take from wow is open world PVP, but bare in mind I have not been in PVP in ESO, My opinion on this may well change.
I think what the OP originally said was "The people who complain about X are the same people who complain about the opposite of X." In other words, they just complain.
Exactly. Not sure why this is so hard to understand. There are a group of folks whose only point is to keep the complaining going --- NOT to get things improved. IMHO, of course.
One thing I have noticed over the years is that people will whine that every game coming out is nothing but a WoW clone even if it is not, and how they wish for something that would break away from the mold only to trash any game that comes out because it does have all the features from WoW.
Its because there has been a lack of innovation in the market since god knows when. I hope to god some game years from now totally breaks the mold from what we are used to than follow the same pattern and play it safe.
I think there is a good bit of truth to what you are saying. The problem comes when these same folks start complaining on the other side about not being enough like WoW, in this example. That's why I have praised Zenimax for doing new things and for saying "No" to stuff that doesn't fit into their vision. If that makes me a "devoted fan" or a "white knight", then so be it, I guess.
good , i don't want a wow clone and if it turns into one i am sure many people will leave. why leave WoW to play WoW....fail logic is fail.
exactly why I bought it and lots of other ppl as well, that is why they stuck Daoc in a TES shell so ppl like Bleak and me and others would buy it
I left WoW which i play since BC because it's f-ing boring. I was one of the hardcoe players, heroic raids, challenge mode, arena, rated bg etc. And i'm bored of it, there is no fun in it, ESO now this is fun! In WoW you can't really do anything else than watch the numbers and use builds wich are the best. There is no way to make your character different from others(other than transmog and better gear). In WoW it takes a year for new content(patch), especially the expansion endconent. This is why i'm glad ESO is different and they don't want to make it like WoW or any other MMO. Yeah, i'm sure there will be best builds in the game but as i seen you mustn't use those builds/skills which are the "best". There is a lot to explore, search for skyshard collect materials, because you don't need a prof just to collect(like herba, mining). You have the right to choose, decide who do you let to live, whose side are you on. So this will be a real elder scroll game just online. I don't hope it will kill WoW(because sadly it can't) i just hope it will have enough players so it will not become f2p.
yeah but he pointed out things that are pretty much the same in every mmo since WoW, its the first yeah but pretty much every main stream has had wow style questing since wow released. that does not make it like wow that just makes it standard mmo today..when there are soo many more things about this game other then the two or three things listed. most of which make this game way different. lol
Nothing wrong having the best of all worlds.... the problem is, everyone is different and has their opinion or style. What may be the best for one, may be a game breaker for another.
