TESCS - problems with opening some mods.

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 10:40 am

I'm relatively new to modding, mainly getting my head around the CS before I really can get going. I have found some problems with opening some mods, even if I create them myself.

Essentially, if I use mods depending on Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon .esm, they open fine. If the mod depends on any other .esm as well, e.g. MPP or TR, the CS crashes when opening the .esp to work on.

An example is abot's Windows Glow for TR. I keep getting an error loading MW with this active, because the TR Data files are not the same version, although it claims to use the version I have. If I could only open it in the CS and then save again, I could solve problem, but I can't get it to open.

I'm using GOTY edition on a WIndows 7 64 bit machine.

Anyone out there any ideas how to work round this?

Be sure to select all the ESMs that a mod is dependent on, instead of letting the CS do it for you.
If an ESP is dependent on more than four ESMs, and they are not selected, the CS will crash instead of opening. (I think it was four)

Example: MW-Trib-Bloodmoon-TR-TRData = http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1496063-tescs-problems-with-opening-some-mods/too many for the CS to auto select for you. You gotta do it manually.

Hopefully that's the problem here, because it's easy to correct.

It's three, Pluto. I'd select all of the master files unless you're just using Tribunal and/or Bloodmoon in any case.
