Small tip for level design

So you are building your level, it takes a second for stuff to appear when you drag them into your huge interior level

NO MORE

Open any exterior cell in the cell view window (dont load it obviously)

TADAAAA the CK no longer has to refresh a long list of items in your cell every time you place new objects

Just hit space a couple of times in the search bar on the Cell View. Problem solved.

Yeah you can stop it from refreshing the list by typing something into the filter above it. I generally just jam on my keyboard. Since "adfsjkld" doesn't exist in the cell (Unless you have terrible naming conventions) it never shows anything, never refreshes, and never hangs your CK while it adds the new reference ID.

Try space. It's easy and works great. None of the IDs have spaces. :)

Is there any place on the wiki where things like these can be added?

Heres some more:

- Shaders on stuff (snow and sulfur)

Duplicate your mesh you want to add shaders to.

Edit your duplicated static and change its Directional material. Max angle controls the magnitude of the effect.

Works on every static from kit pieces to random clutter.

NOTE: only static meshes can be edited this way, no activators or furniture unfortunately.

- Changing (landscape) textures of meshes

Some meshes with texture variation (like dirt cliffs) just dont have the variations you want by default.

Duplicate your object, then edit the model.

Apply alternate textures in the Model data menu. If you mess up, click on the selection and back out to reset back to default.

Best used on objects with landscape textures like dirt cliffs.

Press g to hide the ground plane

-Creating torn banners

Edit your banner in the reference window

Go to the Extra tab and edit Alpha cutoff. Higher value = http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1495878-small-tip-for-level-design/more torn, lower it for a perfect look.

Does NOT apply the change to every banner in the game, only that particular one.
