Hi

Am doing Rise in East quest and have to steal something from the Dark Elf. However whenever I enter this Clatter place (following quest marker) I get arrested by the guards. Do I have wait for her to come out?

Are you going in during the day, when the door is unlocked? If you're breaking in, you have to make sure you are sneaking and undetected (eye closed) before you activate the door to pick the lock. (Possible slight spoiler: you can go in during the day when she's there and steal what you need provided you are sneaking and undetected when you take it).

I haven't done that quest in a LONG time. It's pretty well hidden..

My current character went in and got it earlier today, although tbh I'm sort of wishing she hadn't, I'm not sure it really fits her character. Interesting to note that the gender blip has been fixed (there's a line in the book that refers to Suvaris as "him" in vanilla), presumably that's the USKP.

I was sneaking. I had to pick the lock so must have been during the night. However I was sneaking so don't know why I was detected. Can you explain shay you mean by eye closed etc. There always seems to be a guard posted outside so difficult not to be detected.

When you go into sneak mode, the crosshairs are replaced by either two straight lines or an eye, which is either wide open if someone can see or hear you, or more or less closed if someone is looking for you but can't quite find you. If you're picking a lock, you need to wait until the eye is replaced by the two lines, i.e. it's closed/you're undetected.

If you try sneaking but the guard always detects you, then try going there in the daytime, wander in, pretend you're just looking around, find the thing you need and sneak, hopefully you should be able to grab it undetected. Best to save before you take it, just in case.
