Ultimate

Post » Sat Mar 22, 2014 11:35 pm

Hi all!

Im going for a pure stamina build, Nord, 2 handed, all weapon skills.

1: Im guessing medium armor is the best armor?

2: (A thing I really wonder about) What about my Ultimate? Are ultimates magicka based?? Im thinking of choosing Nightblade, only to get the Soul Shred Ultimate, since it looks good for CC. But is its stats based on magicka??

Any thoughts that might help me? :)

FinesseFinesse is a great and rewarding system which encourages players to use their abilities properly. Finesse points are gained by successfully attacking, dodging, blocking or interrupting an enemy. Since ultimate abilities require finesse to be cast, performing the aforementioned combat actions will enable you to use ultimates more often. A secondary benefit of finesse is that you gain more experience and items from slain monsters. In a group setting finesse and ultimate points can be acquired more quickly, so it’s important for every player to watch out for synergy and defensive moves.

This is a reasonable description of how the Ultimate abilities function.

The finesse idea was dropped. Ultimate now just builds up as you fight and perform actions in combat. The ultimate of teh Fighter's guild is based off of stamina.

(edit: didn't know about Finesse being dropped either, my bad)

Also, you can even wear 7x Medium Armor OR 5x Medium & 2x Heavy Armor OR 4x Medium & 3x Heavy Armor... you can really choose whatever you want. You don't need to wear only medium armor to get the most stamina.

There are enchantments, food and drink buffs, racial passives and armor passives that can help you with upgrading your stamina.

I didn't realize they had strayed from the finesse idea. It seemed to me in beta that the Ultimate ability accumulated Ultimate points as other skills in the tree were used (successfully). Once a sufficient number of points were accumulated the Ultimate ability button would switch to "glowy" and could be fired so it seems like the description may not be too far off.

Yeah, they incorporated finesse into ultimate. But there used to be other consequences as well, like better loot for instance. That stuff was dropped.

Each skill line is different in terms of what resource it uses. The skill descriptions will tell you (http://eldersouls.com/elder-scrolls-online/skills for instance). But IIRC Fighters Guild, Werewolf, PvP Assault and weapon skills (except staves) use stamina, while staves and mages guild, undaunted, vampire, PvP support, class and soul skills use magicka.

This was the first I'd heard about Finesse. It got me all excited, until I read that it had been dropped. :(

Its based on stamina but also requires spell damage, I didnt get very far level wise but I dont think those 2 go so well hand in hand. Also aside from its passive 13% extra weapon dmg then its a horrible ultimate in PVP unless fighting vampires.

However nightblade got death stroke which does seem to cause same amount of damage regardless of your attributes or gear, but I base this only on its description!

Danw's Wrath is pretty spelled bad.

One thing I noticed a lot in PvP was that the Ultimate points reset a lot after taking deaths so try to stay alive and remember to look for the most opportune time to use it when it's available.
