Best Buy frustrations

Post » Sun Mar 23, 2014 2:37 am

Did anyone else pre order the ESO CE from Best Buy? I've been fighting with them to merely find out when I will get my game so I'll know if I'll have it inside the grace period. After fighting and fighting with their apparently illiterate customer support staff for 3 days I finally find out that I could get my game as late as 4/11/14. Is anyone else at all having issues with them? I asked them if I could switch my order to an in store pickup for midnight release but have yet to hear back. I've also emailed Zenimax to try and have them help me.

you would have better luck preordering it from Wal-mart, Best buy does not cater to gamers at all. I learned long ago never pre-order games from a non gamestore. Walmart doesnt cater to gamers either but they are open at midnight was my point about wal-mart.

Never buy anything at Best Buy, and a lot of people here will tell you the same thing. Had similar problems with an item I bought from them a couple years ago and haven't been back there and never will go back. Hopefully you can get it changed ti in store pick up but knowing them I wouldn't hold my breath.

that's why I don't buy the hard copy. but if I was going to, I would get it from gamestop or another actual game retail store. they put a lot more effort into getting things right seeing its all they do in the first place. People at best buy, they don't care and id have to say almost all of them don't want to put effort into something like this. If I was you, see if you can still get a copy from one of the retail game stores, if you can, cancel bestbuys. In my experiences, they give you the game codes early for such reasons as early access. BestBuy might have them too but like I said, they really don't care. Zeninmax has nothing to do with shipping products from 3rd party distribution.Hope it works out for you.

The best buy here in ottawa told me they didnt even take preorders for ce at all, so i didnt bother ordering through them. svcks you're having issues getting your copy.

my apologies for this doom and gloom message but, a few months ago i read an article that said that over 10,000 Best Buy stores around the United States have been closed due to lack of sales, i have attempted many sales and critical game releases from them (including skyrim, which they didnt even know what skyrim was) and allways ended up with customer service and sales associates that were completely oblivios to even the game title i was refering to and allways ended with my frustration. Best Buy is crashing and dying out. and its rather embarrasing to watch since they used to be one of the best game stores around.

Do you absolutly need anything from the Physical Box? If no just buy from ZOS and after release see if you can buy the imperial CE from gamestop if you dont mind spending double and just want to collect it.

This is why I bought the IE version direct from zenimax. I paid £70 (about 103$) for it but I've been stung in the past. I ordered final fantasy xiv realm reborn from Amazon, paid £8 to get it the same day as release but I didn't get it until 2 days after release. It was worth the extra dosh to know that I have it come the 30th.

My advice: Buy the digital Imperial Edition directly from Zenimax's website, download, good to go. Later on, when your CE Box comes in, hang onto it until they're rare as crap (like a year or so), then sell it on ebay for $1000.

Cancel it and order it direct from the ESO site.

No but after 4/4/14 you have a 48 hour grace period to redeem your physical copies product ID otherwise they take away all your CE bonuses. So if I were to create an imperial toon day 1 of early release there is a chance I'd lose that character on 4/6/14 because Best Buy svcks and can't do their jobs.

I wouldn't bother shopping at Best Buy. Better to buy the digital addition. Best Buy will always disappoint...

Im pretty sure zenimax would extend that deadline, they are not going to shut you out just because you didnt get your code yet. With luck they are using a good logistics system that will tell them when the final copy has been delievered, and then make a deadline based off that. I would think it would be required a week or 1 1/2 weeks after the 4th, nothing to stress over.

that is incorrect. zenimax stated we would only have untill april 7nth 2014 to redeem those codes or you would be locked out of your account untill the code was used.

I got it on Best Buy also, IE btw, no issue at all, but I did choose in-store pick-up, which is set for 12:01 am on 4/4/14. Hell, I even used a couple of discount rewards I had hehehe. Your issue is you choose delivery, and that is a problem on itself as Best buy will use third party delivery and that adds a lot of extra time to the delivery itself. Lesson learn I guess, next time, always pick it up if possible, I wish you good Luck.
