Am I really short?

Post » Fri May 07, 2010 5:53 pm

I just recently started playing Oblivion, so pardon me if this has been hashed out. I'm playing a Dunmer and it seems like every conversation I have with someone I'm straining my neck to look at them. Are Dunmers just really short or is there some odd perspective thing with Oblivion that makes everyone crane their necks up at people. I feel like I'm under the rainbow.

I do believe Dunmer are average height. I've never noticed this.

Male Bosmer on the other hand, they ARE short.

Not sure about height but like Count Lauriel said, Male Bosmer are pretty short. Orcs are usually huge.

Try talking to a male bosmer, if you're still looking up then you know something's going on.

 Cough, cough Faragoth ... ahemmm.

A Dunmers actualy a fair height, the females tend to be quite tall when I play, try playing an Altmer first as they are the tallest.

Dunmer are standard height.

The only time I have seen this if if the PC is seating when talking, so I'm not sure why it is happening to you.

Here is a reference table: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console_Command_Tutorial#Player.SetScale_.23

See I was gonna say my dark elf witch character seems too tall!. Which contradicts the OP of course. It's a female, though. I never noticed if she has to strain her neck just to look at others while talking, I'll try and see if this happens later.

I play Bosmers exclusively. I finally got tired of being short, especially on my assassin, Tarion Shadowstep. I used the console to increase his height, making him bigger than most imperials, only bested by Altmer. That sure felt good.

Heh, good one. :P

Yeah, I know. I was (mostly) kidding. (They can talk to you, though, which can make you feel rather small if you've been caught pickpocketing. ;) Also, certain NPCs will initiate conversation with the player. It happens several times in the tutorial. If you're crouching, you will be "shorter" than the NPC.)

No, but my character is. Lol. Seems she spends her whole life craning her neck up to talk to people.

Yes. RP reasons. She is the same height as a male Bosmer. Being a small, fragile glass cannon is just part of who she is. Similarly, she has base endurance and strength.
