Would You Have a Genetic Engineered Child

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 4:21 pm

So with the growing technology in our age we can finally have kids through artificial means and instead of natural birth. Now you can design your baby how ever you wish even to be perfect in your eyes. So would you do it? I would personally because I think it better process then making a women go through all the stages of pregnancy, and would save me from a headache

Design a baby and let it grow inside a laboratory jar? Hell yeah I'd do it, but it's not a future we need. We should rather focus on eliminating undesirable defects, diseases, et cetera for everyone instead of having the rich order super babies while the rest of us plebians have to stand on the sideline with our inferior offspring.

Ooh, what a social divide that would be. It almost makes me kind of excited.

the only reason I'd have my potential future child engineered would be to dump the life threatening hereditary diseases that plague my family (heart disease runs in my bloodline) everything else I want to be natural as possible

I'd rather focus on eliminating genetic and genetic-based diseases than trying to create the next Adeptus Astartes.

Yes. I would simply remove any diseases or problems from them. I'm not necessarily sure it should be legal to enhance the kids natural capabilities beyond that. If it was widely accessible to everyone? Sure. Then I would have no problem with it.

I am a genetically engineered child. I am the result of the DNA of the worst directors out there, someday I will get into cinema and make the movies my fathers like Uwe Boll and Michael Bay produce!

No matter how awesome it could possibly be in the beginning, I can see where that slippery slope would lead and I'm not about to help that along. I'll take my chances with nature.

I don't really care for selecting features. Besides, I won't be equipped to have children anyways. I'd rather adopt. I don't want to be responsible for bringing someone into this world and force them to experience death without asking. I'd rather make someone elses' life better.

Nature has done us pretty well over the past millions of years. No need to change now.
