Any COD fans Want to see a new WWII Installment?

I know Call of Duty games aren't always this community's favorite but I've been a long-time fan of the COD series, but for a completely different reason than most, I despise the online multiplayer aspect of almost every game and COD is no exception but I've always loved the campaigns, although they're notoriously short they give me that quick fix of cinematic FPS goodness I sometimes crave.

The Past few modern setting COD games have had pretty good stories and all the interesting gunplay and variety that modern weapons and technology have had to offer, but lately I've gotten sick of all the glowing green lights and laser pointers, rocket drones, attack choppers, cheesy cold war style villains, and I've started to miss the good ol' simplicity and epic scale of when it was all World War 2 all the time. I know people got sick of it and that's why it shifted to being more modern warfare, but I feel like now the opposite has happened, we've been smothered with so many modern combat titles that now a brand new WWII campaign would be a breath of fresh air.

Think about it, the last World War 2 COD game was World at War which was released back in 2008. That was 6 years ago! Technology has improved so drastically since then, look at how great some of the last games in the series have looked and felt, now imagine huge scale warfare in the trenches of old using today's technology :D and there are still so many aspects of the war that haven't even been touched yet so it wouldn't even have to be a rehash with better graphics, they could make an awesome entirely new campaign!

Maybe its just because I'm a svcker for WWII history but I think a new COD game set back in it's old roots could be fairly popular and help the series from feeling stale by giving the community a nostalgic change of pace  Does anyone else agree? Would anyone else like to see how modern technology could render a new World War 2 game, and are there any parts of WWII specifically that you would like to see covered?

I remember when people were sick of being flooded with WW2 shooters.

But anyways, I'd prefer a WW2 game to be skewed more towards realism and large battlefields. Something better left to DICE or another developer.

What would interest me greatly is a realistic WW2 RTS, much like Blitz.

I kinda don't. I've done enough landings on Omaha beach, fighting in rural French and German fields and storming Nazi bases in the final leg of the European campaign to last a lifetime. There's not much anything new to make for WWII shooters.

Id like more eastern front style, or Afrika front. That'd be neat. Hell any WW2 game would be cool now adays. All we got is modern this.

Hmm, perhaps I should have made the thread more about if there are any other conflicts in general that people would like to see a new game of? Not just World War 2, but say maybe, Vietnam or the Korean Conflict? Those are two that are not overly covered, in fact, I don't think I've ever seen a Korean Conflict video game

I've had enough WWII games and other media which shoves "American supremacy over Europeans" philosophy down my throat, so no thanks. The Modern Warfare games were a nice change, where the Americans remembered that there was a world out there that consisted more of America and America's third-world enemies.

Just give me my Brothers in Arms game already Gearbox and we'll call it a day. I want my Battle of the Bulge.

As for Call of Duty, I'd rather THEY not do it as it will play like a Call of Duty game. Those silly perks, killstreaks, and attachments in a WWII game? One reason why I wasn't fond of World at War. If you're looking for a good WWII game that excels at being realistic while using gaming's modern technology today, Tripwire Interactive makes amazing WWII games with Red Orchestra and Rising Storm. And as I said, the Brothers in Arms series is a great tactical FPS with a great story and characters while set in WWII. I'd much rather have another Brothers in Arms game (whenever Gearbox feels like continuing the series) than another World at War.

Too bad the "sequel(s)" to Sniper Elite weren't true to the original at all.

Because, well... the original Sniper Elite is the most refreshing WW2 game ever made.

If any of you haven't played it... it's for PC and PS2, probably also original Xbox... and the PC version is the best. Get on it.

I want a First World War game. Give me trench warfare, Mark IV tanks and ropey Triumph motorcycles.

No thanks. I'd rather explore something different. If we have to go back, let's go back to Korea or something.

I love the Brothers in Arms series! Never played EiB, but Hill 30 and Hells Highway were great, I thought I heard of Gearbox doing a new BIA game a year or two back but it looked more like a cartoon-y spinoff of Inglorious Bastards and I was not interested at all so I don't know what ever became of it. I forgot Bastogne is next on the list for Baker's squad though (hopefully), maybe I'll just have to hold my breath until then :D

And I have to agree with you guys, if it was another COD game it could very well be ruined by annoying multiplayer quirks, this is why I wish they would make a purely singleplayer installment with a good focused story. And the story doesn't have to be American perspective only, I agree with the American perspective being overplayed that's why I was saying there are so many aspects of the war that haven't even been touched upon by the series, it was a World War, they have a lot of countries and battles to choose from. Too many aspects from the multiplayer could seep through and ruin the campaign, but we all know a singleplayer-only COD game will NEVER happen unfortunately :( But this entire thread is just wishful thinking I suppose.

Buying COD for the single-player campaign is a bit like buying an ice cream just for the cone.

And no, I don't particularly want a new WW2 COD game. There are FPS franchises that covered WW2 a lot better than COD, with a recent example being Red Orchestra 2 / Rising Storm.

Tried http://store.steampowered.com/app/242860/? It's still in Early Access, but seems quite fun, if not exactly an authentic WWI experience.

The only thing that makes me want another WWII game by CoD is the multiplayer. I am obsessed with WWII weapons.

Yep I'm starting to miss those Nazi's. Always were polite enemies.

I think I'd pass. If there were to be a new WW2 game I would rather it not be a CoD title. I thought the CoD Ghosts campaign was pretty dull for the most part in terms of story, but it had some fun missions/sequences. For the most part though I think I'm just tired of FPS war games in general.

Yeah, I saw that when it was announced, it could be interesting.

I do think WW1 battlefields would make for a good game in the vein of SW Battlefront. The nature of attrition and ropey vehicles would fit that style of game well. Hell there was trench warfare on Hoth that worked in a similar fashion.
