What are ESO EU players planning for server choice?

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 8:01 am

As title says, I was curious on this one.

Last MMO I played regularly, was The Secret World, and it had one international server. I was leading a international guild for it, though I noted as time went on, the EU side of things dropped in general, and that impacted my membership in that timezone. Being English myself, I never saw a great deal of activity, until unsociable hours too often, and was part of the reason I closed it down. I have also played in guilds in US timezones, and found once again the issue of activity times was quite a barrier, no matter how hard I tried to overcome it.

This is my primary reason to stick to EU zones for my own timezone, though I may play with my friends on the US servers time to time.

I noted in another thread, people from EU were choosing to play on US timezones, and was curious about the reasons given. I certainly know it is not all negativity, and there are many positives too. Such as the higher populations sometimes even in off peak times.

So what are people for EU's plans, for ESO?

5th thread on this :)

Leaning towards US.

Every other MMO been EU, but DCuO,LoTRo farmed out their servers to a third party.
Lag isn't important today as it was for me at any rate I ping 40 ms more for playing US instead of EU.
No arguments about what language is best.

From my FPS exp US are more chatty, friendly than EU people.

Is it? Sorry. I never saw anything on this specific area of the server choice end.

I tend not to base my choice on lag either, even when it did appear to be more of an issue.

With FPS, I have to say my experience has been reverse. Maybe seen plenty of chat, but quality has not always been great. But, then, really it is not about nationality, it is about personality.

I heard the US servers have better cookies. I invite all the EU folks to come see for themselves. I'll even throw in a free hot cocoa beverage. You know you want to.

In all seriousness, I'm a NA with a play schedule that fits EU times perfectly, so the more EU there are on our servers, the happier I'll be.

And cake, there will be cake. Sooooo so much cake.

Yep, my schedule is more similar to EU. I almost considered playing on EU because of it, but decided against it.

Looking forward to playing with all you Aussies and Europeans in the odd hours

I'm a night shift worker myself, so gotta see how this turns out, but since we EUghies are all on one server, I'm confident there'll be enough people to play with, even at odd hours. Not to forget noctambulism is a common 'trait' amongst MMOers.

I'll probably have characters on both servers for playing with different groups of friends.

In the last weekend beta the only performance issue I had was the 'CPU spike freeze', outside of that I didn't have any noticeable problems that affected my NA server experience (I didn't switch to EU server for that session as a friend was having massive problems with it redownloading the entire game every time he launched the client).

So as both will be available to me, and I have people that I would like to play with on each server, I'll likely have characters on both.

US.

Thought about playing EU with my friend(Sweden) but he's coming to US with me.

I hear nothing but stories about people hating English speakers so there's that.

One server for Europe and one for the US.

You can play on either or both if you want.

I have played on US servers before in other MMO's and it never worked out for me, midnight raids and dungeons runs or RP events held early hours of the morning.

So I will be going to the EU server to play with people in my time zone.

Also there is a huge difference to the EU and US zone chats. The EU zone chat just seemed more civil over all. I actually had it turned on, where as on the US server I turned it off after a few minutes.
