Petition to move the EU server to Europe before launch

Post » Mon Mar 24, 2014 3:52 pm

As you know by now the EU server will be located in the US. This will result it a noticeable increase in lag for everyone playing from Europe. They have not specified WHEN they will move them to Europe.

The usual delay you get if you are from the EU and play on an EU server is 60-100 ms.

The usual delay you get if you are from the EU and play on an US server is 280-300 ms. (due to the distance your "signal" has to travel)

The EU players pay more for their subscription and will get 3-5 times more lag. I don`t think this is in any way fair... i would love it if they moved the servers to Europe.

So i take it you totally agree and like to play with 3-5 time more lag vs if they moved the servers because..... you think its hard for them to do a thing every AAA MMO launched in the last few years has done at launch.

Why would you think they are unable to do something all the other MMO`s have done? Should not be that hard.

No, I'm saying that it simply won't happen before launch as it is a lot more complex than simply making a server there.

You should add a 3rd option in your poll: I don't live in Europe and don't care either way, but you're not delaying launch for this trivial nonsense.

It is more complex... but since the EU pays more for a subscription and since every AAA MMO recently release had EU servers... its odd.

I know they have a lot going on right now with the starter zones being a buggy mess and we can only imagine how much worse the rest are... but still, saying you will keep the EU servers in the US is bad because the ONLY reason EU players use EU servers is to reduce the distance to the server aka reduce the lag.

They aren't going to keep them there. They will migrate the european server to a server in Europe eventually.

They have them prepared they just did not move them yet, moving them should not take long... not to mention they would never delay the launch for this.

The EU clients are their highest paying ones(because they charge them more) and yet they will have the highest latency(lag)... good business practice.

Learn something new everyday, just because you're "the highest paying ones" obviously that little tidbit was not a key component in them moving the servers over. I know the repercussions it can have and so does ZoS, and yet they still left it this way. Unless ZoS says something about this, then don't worry as something is happening right now with, with what we do not know, but eventually it will be sitting in EU ready to go.

If I had to take a guess I am wondering if they are waiting on Launch, see how those servers perform here in the U.S. and then go from there. If lag isn't bad, guess what! They don't have to move it and all repairs can be done in one spot rather than 2. If lag is bad, then they will do what they need to. Just my guess on it all. Just because you're paying for something doesn't give you privileges over others that are doing the same, even if you are paying slightly more.

What the hell is the point of the poll? Obviously everyone would like them to move the servers as soon as possible.

As a player from Australia who will never see a local server and plays with higher ping than you EU people will ever have to experience, I say: svck it up. At least you will see a EU server at some point.

ESO is actually really good in terms of latency compensation, although that seems to be the case for most games these days.

Not gonna have the launch delayed when the ping was good in beta, I noticed no lag whatsoever.

I'm sure not moving the servers to EU immediately was a decision made by a random ZOS employee who has something against the EU, not because of a contract limitation or logistics problem in setting up the server farm.

I bet they can flip the switch that says "Megaserver Go Europe Now Fast Fast" immediately if we all sign.
