Wait..wait..wait.. There is No EU-Server on Launch?

Ahh, well we'll just have to wait and see. Though it seemed that they may have gotten ahead of the phasing issues as of this past weekend's surprise mini-beta.

Latency is still high even with first class 'internet speed'. Lag is usually cause by Latency instead of bandwidth nowadays.

If the EU servers are in NA thats not the same as saying they are phisically the same server, so imo it will still be different servers just located there.
So that makes no difference to whatever amount of ppl would have been on those servers.
EU players will still be seperate I guess.

And phasing was being looked at afaik. (really hope so because being unable to complete 75% of the quests is a big nono for launch)

NA server with all those South Americans playing. No way! Americans seem to have bigger issues with people not speaking english than others. Europeans are more used to it.

In that case my worries are for naught.

Have you really posted this on EVERY forum on the planet?

I can't see it causing much of a latency issue as 90% of the UK are still using 40+yo copper lines not even designed to carry internet anyway, even if the data centre was in your town it wouldn't be fantastic.

Even so I am sure the majority of us UK players will manage.

I have a sneaky suspicion that if the launch goes smoothly and there's no noticable performance issues for the EU Zenimax will leave the data centre in the USA.

Why?

It would save them a crap load of ££$$, they could maintain the server easier to, I think they are just edging their bets to see what EU subs will be like before commiting.

I disagree with your argument here. Europe always was a very strong and very important market for subscriptions.

ZOS took a great amount of money to build this game, which means they need masses of customers. Europe was always in their crosshairs. And from a business point of view, they always knew that they needed to invest (and take a risk) if they wanted to get big revenue.

They also have specific numbers of preorders and know how many of them originate in europe. They have their after_beta surveys where they can see the change in opinion for questions like "Whould you buy this game?". And they have numbers of how many people from Europe participated in the beta(s).

They already know there are no real performance issues. They could measure that for a long time for a lot of players. But still they are determined to migrate the servers. There was no if clause in their statement and I think they know perfectly well that such a turnaround would generate the perfect dung storm.

It's funny that they a mucking over more than half of their playerbase at launch.

Because their servers are not like any other ones. They are using diffrent mechanisms and their servers are 10 times better then any other server you will see.

I live in Turkey and i played at those servers located at US and there was no lag at all. Its amazing that they managed to achieve such success

Fair point, seems reasonable, only time will tell.

Personally I don't care as I had zero issues playing on the USA mega server in the beta tests, I am one of the players on 12 meg copper connections and have managed for years so no issues.
