A first-world problem at its finest
OP has a right to be upset. I am getting 135ms ping to NA located servers. Over 100 is not acceptable to me, under 50 is ideal. It was also a shameful last minute announcement on ZOS's part.
You missed the point. Overseas datacenter and there wasn't much problem with latency. And if you didn't do the Titan primal fight you wouldn't understand just how tight your timing, positioning, and everything HAD to be otherwise 1 person dying could easily cause a wipe on the fight. You don't need pvp to run into problems with latency.
But like i said. Overseas data center. Timing precise fights most from EU didn't have problems. And liek other EU players here have already said, there weren't much ping issues. So the system should easily limp on until the EU datacenter comes up.
First, they did not deny the FOV problem. They looked into it, they acknowledged that there is a problem making some people feel weird and finally they announced they are working on it to solve this problem. They also stated they were not able to make it into the last patch for launch, which indicates that they are progressing but not fast enough or that more important things bind more resources right now.
I don't think implementing this is a technical mystery. Just that right now, they are busy and stressed. And of course they are not utterly stupid. They cannot give you specific dates, because they know that everything is in flux and depends on how the launch goes. Imagine the outrage if they failed to meet a promised date.
They know it is very important to a certain amount of potential customers. And they will going to fix this as soon as possible: Because they want your money, too. Trust in that.
Yeah this. People get so stuck on numbers and claim to be able to notice the tiniest latency difference of a couple of ms. *cough*Bullsheet*cough*
The thing is, these people are slaves to their idea of having a fast connection and hungrily watch the numbers so they have something to whine about. It is all purely subconscious. The whiners who have started these threads will be the first to post up that the latency is too high once the game launches, even though the rest of us in Europe playing on the servers located in the US won't notice a thing because we aren't looking and aren't slavishly looking and trying to foolishly make ourselves believe the lag is too much.
Some of these serial-complainers live in a perpetual state of self-entitlement and I find it pathetic.
I wasn't aware that FOV would be post-launch. That's quite disappointing...
I bought the game on the belief that they'd patch it before launch, and I thought that the recent beta weekend simply didn't have enough time to patch the FOV in. If their excuse is that they are busy with launch, I will keep myself busy with something other than their game until they become less busy.
I'm from UK and didn't notice any lag when playing on US beta servers, stop whining until you've played and there is (or probably isnt anyway) a problem
I have to stand in awe of people that basically say, buy this game for which you will never get a refund and if it turns out bad complain then and only then. How about you give me money to buy the game and if the game meets my expectations I will pay you back.
Some people didn't notice lag, I did. How dare I have a different experiance.
Some people are fine with 100ms+ so that must mean everyone should be fine with it.
Some are fine with a console FOV so that must mean that I am imagining the headaches and nausea.
That is the best way to do things. Vote with your money!
what is a console FOV? (avid PC gamer only play racers/football on console) 3rd person? You could zoom into first person even in the beta
A console FOV is an FOV of around 60 degrees in First Person. It is standard for consoles, which you play sitting far away from a big screen. In case of PC and monitor where you sit at arms length from the screen the standard FOV is around 90, at least on a 16:9 monitor. Some people, like me, when faced with a low FOV on a monitor get motion sickness.
There is no reason for a low FOV on PC, or lack of options. An FOV on consoles is used because it makes aiming on a pad easier (enemies are bigger, area seen is smaller) and it is beneficial because the hardware is weak. The less you see the less is being rendered.
On a PC there is no need for such restrictions. Games of old allowed for an FOV as low or as high as you wanted it. Even competitive shooters.
