I'm not actually starting an in-game guild, this is more of an out-of-game sisterhood/brotherhood.
I decided to make this post because I have seen some offensive posts by people accusing others of having "no life" because they spend a lot (or a WHOLE LOT) of time gaming. Some of these comments are only meant to be harmless ribbing, but some just make my skin crawl. So who wants to join me in this? In order to be a part you must fall into one of the following, or feel free to add your own. (Props to Jeff Foxworthy for the format - apologies to Jeff Foxworthy because I'm really not very funny!)
You might have no life if...
you prefer to play an active part in an adventure rather than stare dumbly at a TV or movie screen
you prefer to build meaningful bonds based on similar interests with thousands of people frome very walk of life without being blinded by visual prejudices
you have a hobby that allows you to see places of great beauty few have ever seen without having spent thousands of dollars to pretty much do the same but didn't have to leave your chair
you have built life-long friendships with people everywhere that youc an interact with and *see* anytime you want to
... feel free to add your own.
There are lots of people who have reasons for why they have "no life" and what's funny is I'll bet some of us, even though we play as much as we do, have lives that are so much more active and fulfilling inside and outside our gaming. This probably was an unnecessay thread, but sometimes it really bugs me, not the term, just the intent to belittle people just because they think theya re somehow better or superior. Seems to me that having enough time to read forums and look for people you think you can bully or belittle is much less of a life than people who are entertaining themselves and others without feeling teh need to bring someone else down.
