Early Access Key

Post » Tue Mar 25, 2014 5:20 am

That was the last straw with me as a Gamestop customer when I saw that news. I was horrified by that news. I know most people at Gamestop wouldn't do that, but how do you know if your Gamestop that you go to doesn't? I quit going to them, and have since looked at other places, such as starting with the games official site's store, and moving on from there. Worst case scenario I would rather wait for release of the game and miss out on pre-ordering and hoping finding the CE in Wal Mart or another store that sells games.

Also it's not too late to get it from ESO's site if that's possible, my suggestion then would be first contact support, and ask them about your concerns with ordering the physical copy from them and still gaining the Early Access. I am pretty positive you should be able to cancel your order with Gamestop, order the physical edition of the game from ESO and have no problems whatsoever. I would still just contact ESO with these concerns first and make sure that I am right, and you should be good to go with no worries.

How can they run out of codes if the code comes with the receipt? Run as far as you can from this mess, cancel your order and per-order through other means as soon as possible...

So you preodered the CE and now you can't play in the EA because they ran out of codes? If that's the case I'd really advise emailing ESO support about that. If you pre order through them even the physical CE all you will truly need is to download the client. They answer pretty quick too. I asked them about my preorder as on my account page it says just Early Access and not 5 day, and within the hour they told me all I need is the client and on the 5th day before launch I will be in the game since I did order the Imp edition. It may take the physical edition to reach you in 2 weeks but accessing the game 5 days early and getting into the game shouldn't have an effect on when you can play the game, and I would advise making sure with ESO first through their support.

That's it exactly, hell I'd take it a step further and create a twitter account informing ESO's twitter handle what is going on including Game Stops twitter handle so that bad PR hits them. More bad PR they get eventually they will have to make changes and fix their current operations of a business. They cry and complain when something comes out that doesn't benefit them, but if the customer gets screwed over that's just business.

You have encountered the same problem I did. I quickly discovered that, while Gamestop is a retailer that offers the early access, EB Games does not. Up here, only Future Shop and Best Buy offer it (you have to go to http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/preorder, click "Retail Edition PC/Mac," then choose "Canada" on the "Select your favourite retailer" drop down menu to discover this). Unfortunately, I've ordered through Future Shop's web site, and I still haven't received the code, and everyone I've talked to so far have said, "Oh, you get that code the day it launches." Which seems to be something that runs contrary to the whole "early access" thing, something the customer service people seem to have difficulty grasping.

All in all, this is proving to be rather frustrating.

This topic is relevant, so I'll just ask here and hopefully get an answer.

I just purchased the Digital Standard edition from the ESO store. How does the early access work? Do I just fire up ESO and I'm good to go on Sunday morning? Or am I supposed to get a key or something?

Apologies if this should be obvious or something...

I preordered the imperial edition (boxed) from amazon back in Janaury (the day it was announced). I got an early access code.

When a company does business like Game Stop does, it makes sense. Would be nice to see Devs step in and make this right. ZoS would get a nice hit to their PR department for fixing Game Stop's shady business practices.
