If any one is interested, the launcher is now letting me download the North American game files.

It's been doing that all day.

You are downloading a patch from 2 days ago, into which the servers opened for a few hours and some of us got to try the overflow server.

Aw man, at first I let out a whoop of excitement, and then I yelled "Troll!" Lol. But really, you're just late to the party.

Still, getting all the patches ready to go is always a good idea.
