What are the implications of purposfully sharing an account?

Post » Tue Mar 25, 2014 4:33 am

Thinking of buying an extra account for my friends n family to use in order to get some of them into the game.

Not really concerned personally with sharing any of its info with the people and might not even resub it after 30 days more likely just give it away.

Think ZMO/Beth would frown on this?

You should be fine. I doubt they want you sharing it with a large number of people, but if its for family and friend, and they actually like the game its a sub, and the box was paid for.

hmm well got to ask because as it seems they did not like me earlier offering to pay a couple peoples sub/gametime card for loading me up with crafting mats. Guess that was a pretty grey area though.

You'd only be able to log in from one location at a time, so it'd be like a timeshare account. You'd have to coordinate when you wanted to play with the other people. Not sure if it'll be a lock-out, or kick-out system but either way it's the same amount of potential game time, with only 8 characters slots to share between you, so no I wouldn't think it'd be a problem.

Yeah, the other way sounded far more gold seller-ish, even though it was you offering to pay for them harvesting for ya. Seeing as people buy second accounts for spouses, kids, friends, cousins, whatever. . . . you are fine. Still though, they probably wouldn't like you sharing one account with 8 friends all of them logging in at different locations/times. But if your log in is localized to a few locations, I see nothing wrong.

Usually if the account is registered to you then you can't give it away as you are the one licensed.

If you do give it away you are in breach of the EULA as that would be effectively account sharing.

Can't remember the EULA here but they tend to be similar.

And at least an extra account would also give me unlimited inventory for the first days/week too. via mail system.

And for the record it was more of a trade you a sub for your junk you will vendortrash. Never intended any 'farming' and am firmly against gold selling and the CC fraud and money laundering that goes along with it.

I would register it to like Abraham Lincoln. I do not even use my real identity for my own account. Have not since all this hacking / personal info craze started running rampant. Would love to, but do not trust any game company with my personal info these days and neither should anyone else. They cannot force you too and no court on the face of the planet would enforce such a thing these days. I work in Justice so have a good idea how those things work.
