AustraliaOceanic Server.

Post » Tue Mar 25, 2014 1:01 pm

Hello everyone.

I am throwing up this post because i would really like to comfrim if certain rumors i am hearing are true.
Such as ESO has already sold over 2million copies in australia alone and that there WILL NOT Be an australia server BUT
there WILL be some sort of connection made to ease our oceanic latency issues. i have read alot of posts from aussie/NZ gamers claiming they have no issues with latency or lag.
this cant be true i particiapted in the last 3 betas. overall questing and running around was fine untill you come to cyrodill where im constantly DC and latency is at around 1000/1600
i deeply hope that the Dev team will be putting up some sort of aussie connection to ease this pain. i can cope with 260ms on games like world of warcraft etc... but not this! i will not have it.
i wil not spend al this money on a game i can never 100 percent experince because of the lag issues. if any1 out there knows anything about any australian TESO news. PLEASE i beg of you!
let me know. im so excited for this game and if it wont have aussie servers well then im just not gonna play. im HUGE fan of the elder scrolls series since morrowind.
same as many other oceanic gamers! i would hate to see this be another [censored] latency mmo for us aussie gamers!

thank you for hearing me out! :D

As far as I've read, the lag in cyrodiil has been fixed up a LOT, and a lot of ppl were saying it was much better. And I don't think we need an oceanic server if they can fix any lag problems that come up. It'll be one massive server, so people to play with at any time of day. When we sleep, they can help keep the keeps we fought to get. And when we're awake, we get to fight to defend/attack :)

2 million copies sold in Australia......Bahahahahahaha!!! 10% of the country would have to be playing.

Don't know what to tell you about your latency problem. I am in Sydney, no issues with connection/latency on betas other than the ones everyone had in general.

That's saying something considering as Perth is almost on the exact opposite side of the world as the eastern US.

As per usual Oceania is left out in the cold...........again. If what I hear is true they are doing some sort of miracle connection bandaid to help, that is good. But there really is no excuse for not having an Oceanic server. It wouldn't be just for Aussie, it would be good for most Asian countries as well.

Would rather connect to the US than play on an Asian server.

SWTOR did an Aussie server for pacific area and all the people from SE Asia went back to US servers, as there was less lagg.

I think we'll be fine with a US server, from the beta I didn't notice any more lagg than other MMO's I've played

Every time a new game goes live exactly the same pattern happens. People go on and on with dozens of repeat threads about Australian servers. People want to be the fastest to max level within a week of starting. After a year the bad behaviour and trolling sets in. I sincerely hope this doesnt happen because a hardcoe of the gaming community poison these wonderful games. I hope Bethesda stomp down hard on the inappropriate behaviours that we have seen develop in some of the more famous MMOs in the last 5 years.

We want a happy thriving fun community with lots of co-op, crafting, imagination and ingenuity and an opportunity to be valuable forum members developing guides and strategies and fan websites.

I think this is the most anticpated game in a long time and I cant wait to start.

like to thank everyone for replying to the post.
since most of you here are saying the same as most other places eg. perth no latency issues etc.... im jst begging to assume that its my ISP
but then again like somebody mentioned it could jst be unstability of the megaserver throughout the beta wich im hoping it really is.
one thing i dont understand though is why some of the aussie here arnt demandin oceanic servers. dont get me wrong i dont want a seperate oceanic server beacuse we all know how that would turn out.
but like @idontreallycare. Mentioned erlier why not have that "miracle bandaid". to really bring down the latency. why should us aussies always have to deal with 200+ latency?
dont you think its a bit unfair?

Rofl 2 mill? highly doubt that, That will more likely be the sales worldwide, Oceanic doesn't get enough people to warrant putting out the resources for its own server they end up ghost towns.

Because over the years playing on american servers I've made many friends there. If there was an oceanic server I would still play with my friends on the US one.

200-300 ms latency is something I'm use to now, and after a while you get to learn how to cope with it, PvE & PvP wise.

2 million copies in Australia? Really?

I would love an OZ server, but I doubt those numbers.

I'm not sure on the numbers but the physical imperial edition has been sold in Australia for quite some time now... :( I sent an email to ZOS about this and they said try and contact an international seller which I didn't find overly helpful)

The only copy I could find in Australia was on ebay and the greedy sod was asking $399 No, not a typo unfortunately.

So with 2 millions copies sold it would seem Australia and NZ has adopted this game wholeheartedly. As for raw numbers it's anyone's guess, and that's exactly it, it's a guess. I can't see how it would have 2 million copies for both NZ and Aust. For starters there are only 47 people living in NZ (/waits for response from teh kiwis) and Australia having a population of only 22 million, I just can't see almost 1 in every 10 people buying the game, that includes infants and old age pensioners too.

That's not true at all. It really only benefits Aussie and maybe NZ players. Asian countries, especially South East Asian countries do not benefit from Oceanic servers, (especially if it is located in Australia.) The only benefit is playing in a more or less similar timezone. But since our connection goes routes through US before then going to Australia, it is really laggy for us to be playing in any oceanic server. In fact, I get similar latency connecting to a Europe Server when I try to play on Oceanic servers.

And besides oceanic servers never do work out. The servers always close after several months. I remembered it happening in Warhammer, and it happened as well in SWTOR. Luckily in SWTOR, I was smart enough to stay in the US server, as true enough the Oceanic servers closed after several months.

In one of the previous beta's, I think the first stress test where you could give a friend a beta sign in link I had a fair amount of lag, right to the point of kicking me out of game, however in all other sessions I played the lag was minimal so I'm not sure an Oceanic server is needed, not by my experience anyway. The overflow server for me was quick, very quick and while I only has a short time with play, there was zero lag. Then again, not many people on so make of that what you will.

Yer in the 2nd stress test weekend, the game in cyrodil was beyond unplayable....then the next one it was almost perfect, it was just super overload of players all at once + they were intentionally making the servers hurt to test its limits.... should be fine for launch i hope :D

Was that the second one? haha I've lost count now of what was what. The several before that were fine anyway, I thought it was on account of the 'send a friend a beta invite' that made it melt. No matter.

I wouldn't be surprised if on the first day of early entry ( I won't be there sadly, my access will only be 3 days early so I'll have sad panda face on  ) will be horrible. I'd love to be proved wrong though and I hope it's smooth sailing. My magic eight ball on my desk says that it won't be perfect but not lousy either, and the magic eight ball is never wrong. :D

Oceanics don't have the population to support a server of their own. It's never going to happen. Just have to settle for whatever we can get, which will be 200-300ms. svcks to be us.
