Would you like FO1&2 for consoles?

Post » Fri May 07, 2010 6:34 pm

The realization that it was a stupid thing to do is either late, or held by a third party, heh. Now how did we get to this being stupid, this desired port of Fallout and Fallout 2 to the 360 ? Needless, not really stupid (that was the thread to see achievements added, heh). I can see someone arguing for it if the game were older and/or had lots of trouble working with a PC made in the last 8 or 9 ears (trouble being relative for some, I guess.), but people can just go play it on their PC. Right now.

INterplay arent allowed to make as much as a patch without Bethesda's Approval. Much less a port

Maybe, but Interplay still has the distribution rights for older Fallout games.

Considering that Arena is freely downloadable from Bethesda's website, I'm not so sure.

That was years ago, two years before Oblivion was even released. I'm talking about present day Bethesda.

Yes, but why should they? Oh that's right...

Because, why not? :P

Why not ? Actually I can think of several reasons varying in quality on why one should play Fallout - good quality RPG, well represented world, the ever popular 'you can kill everything' reason, and so on. Did you just pick up Fallout 3 because you couldn't think of any reason not to ? Also, those people that would want it on their 360, want to experience the game - and the game's right there for PC now, so it follows..

Actually, I'd like Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for PC. It has music from Meshuggah, apparently, so it can't be that bad. :foodndrink:

Brotherhood of Steel is actually one of the greatest games ever, some folks are just sore that they made it console only.

So how would downloading it from GOG be any different than downloading it on XBox Live?

Pretty differently I imagine, given the different systems involved and the different platforms (so the actual releases would be different). Not sure why that matters here, if the console folk want to play it, they don't have to wait for a port to be developed.

So in other words, it would be exactly the same thing as downloading it from GOG... :)

I voted no because I wouldn't buy it, but it would probably bring more attention to the series, if even a little bit, so I guess it would be a good thing.

I voted no because that is a stupid idea. Anyone with the crappiest PC could play Fallout 1 or 2, and porting them to the Xbox or PS3 would pretty much be a waste of time. I have a PS3 and I have Fallout for the PC, but if you do port the two people are just going to [censored] that it isn't like Fallout 3. I've seen how people hate Wolfenstein because they thought it was going to have Killzone 2 graphics or something like that...

i don't see the point, honestly. i play them on a $400 laptop and i've got at least six computers in my closet that could run them without a hitch (probably better, honestly). people THROW OUT computers that can run them. also it would give Interplay some sort of income and the last thing Interplay needs is more money.

that said, while not really directly related i WOULD quite like to see someone (Bethesda?) make Tactics 2 for the DS or something.

I'd prefer Tactics 2 for the PC. Preferrably by Nival.

I don't care either way. I don't won a console, so it doesn't affect me.

I would edge towards supporting FO1/2 for console (as direct a port as possible) if it means more exposure, and potentially a resurgence of old school RPGS and/or an increase in RPG fanbase.

I'd love them to release it for Xbox Live. I never use my computer for gaming, but I'd really love to be able to play the original Fallouts.

The guys who did Silent Storm. And I think HoMM5 was at least better than 4.

Remake it for a HANDHELD!!! Since it is a pointy clicky game it would be a good choice for teh DS, but the PSP would work.
