I haven't been able to find clear answers on the internet to these questions. So I thought I'd ask;

Q1: If I side with the Dawnguard faction and complete the DLC story with them & don't convince a certain someone to cure their self, will I be able to become a Vampire lord?

(If I become a vampire through normal contraction of Sanguinare Vampiris this is not Vampire Lord correct?)

Q2: Is there anything special to both factions?

I may just make a save before I take on the DLC to play both sides, but is there anything special to both sides of the story aside from Vampire lord vs Vampire hunter?

1. Yes you will be able to become a vampire lord even if you join the Dawnguard, but I don't suggest it until you've completed the questline (Since you won't be able to continue it if you become a vampire).

2. Vampire Lord can only be acquired from a pure-blooded vampire (Harkon/Serana). So, yes Sanguinare Vampiris gives regular vampirism.

3. Vampire side gives some radiant quests and some rings and amulets that buff vampire lord form. Dawnguard gives you access to some followers including huskies and trolls and sun spells.

1- Yes, you still have the opportunity to be a VL.

2- Somethings can only be obtained on one side.

If you side with the dawnguard you can become a Vampire lord by asking a certain someone.
