Hello guys a friend of mine purchased the standard digital version of ESO but also purchased the physical imperial edition of the game,my question is would he be able to use the physical imperial edition later to upgrade or not? sorry if its been asked again but i searched the forums and couldnt find anything as i dont have much time due to work thank you.

ZOS has said that upgrading to the Imperial edition will be an open option for anyone after launch. So i don't think it will be an issue for him to use his already owned Imp edition copy to upgrade his Standard account. Just my take anyways.

Why use the digital version at all? The physical imperial should have come with the 5 day early access code that grants access to all imperial bonuses. Then he just needs to put in the actual game code within the 48 hour grace period. With that being said all I can find about upgrading just says it will be available after launch.

His physical imperial edition hasnt arrived yet the retailer here has told him that it will arrive on the 5th that is why he got the standard from ZOS

The upgrade of the digital versoin would be cheaper but i guess its possible at the 5th.

He should still have gotten an early access code that will let him play. Did he order it online or in a store?

He should've received a five day early access code which he could use to play even before receiving the imperial edition. On the 4th he would need to redeem the code on the box and has a 48 hour grace period to do so.

Shouldn't be a problem, probably just a matter of entering the Imperial code.

Even if your friend does run into a problem, I'm sure customer services will only be to happy to sort it out.

Wherever he bought it from he should contact their customer support. He should get that code and try to get a refund on his digital standard edition.

Tell him to look on the receipt for the imperial edition. The early access code should be printed on it.

i told him to do so but he said that it doesnt matter now since he got the standard digital version so the 5 days early accsess is ok,what about the digital extras will he be able to use the codes found in the box to get the extra stuff? i.e. horse,rings of mara etc.

If he bought the digital standard from eso he will get the 5 days. If he bought it anywhere else he will only get 3. Also if he uses the standard code he will not have access to the imperial bonuses such as race, horse or rings during the early access. He will only get those when he upgrades the account. The codes tell his account what he is eligible for during the early access.

Sounds like the guy has more money than sense.

Old friend of mine was the same way. Super serious and logical about everything...until something grabbed his fancy. Then it was like a light-switch and he had to have w/e it was immediately. It wasn't til after he got it, he'd start assessing how much dmg he'd caused himself in getting his desired thing

Well all he wants to know now is if will be able to use the code found in the box for the digital extra stuff but i guess he will have to wait for the official launch of the game am i right?
